5. When and where did this battle take place? June 6, 1944, the coast of Normandy, France.

bombings in German territory, bombed railroads, bridges etc.… to slow down German army.

Bad weather almost led to cancellation

destroy their air force and prepare for invasion

lines. Americans were not ready for the attack and killed thousands of troops. Despite the quick advance
and overwhelming forces of the Germans, American soldiers were able to hold their ground until
reinforcements could come and win for the Allies.
