In the Beginning: Science and Genesis 1-11 “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?“ Psalm 11:3 Evolutionists believe the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. They also believe the base rock of the earth, granite, took 300 million years to cool into rock from its original molten form. Radioactive Decay How it works Rock just formed Radioactive Decay Rock just formed ½ of the radioactive elements have decayed to inert elements Radioactive Decay Rock just formed ½ of the radioactive elements have decayed to inert elements All of the radioactive elements have decayed to inert elements Half-life: The time required for half the atoms in any collection to decay. If 1000 atoms exist at a certain time, then only 500 atoms will remain after 1 half-life, 250 after 2, 125 after 3, 62 after 4, 31 after 5, 15 after 6, and 7 after 7. 3 5 4 2 1 Radio-active Element Half Lives If Carbon 14 has a half-life of about 5700 years, and assuming uniformitarianism is true (it isn’t), how far back can C14 be used for dating something? Approximately 5700 years x 10 = 57,000 or approximately 60,000 years. Polonium Radiogenic Halos Polonium 210 has a half-life of 138.4 days. To see evidence of it in the granite means that the rock would have to harden before that radioactive isotope had fully decayed or there would be no trace of it in the rock! Radioactive Decay – an Example Polonium 210 has a half-life of 138.4 days. 138.4 days times 7=968.8 days, or less than 3 years. So much for the evolutionary assumption of 300 millions years! But, what does Gen. 1:8, 9-10, 13 say? We just disproved the Bible! But, granite also contains Polonium 214! The half-life of P214 is? The half-life of P214 is 64 microseconds - that’s .000164 of a second! Psalm 33:9 “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” Genesis 1:11 “Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth”; and it was so.” Genesis 1:12-13 “And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their kind, and God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.” It’s Quiz Time!! Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The chicken came before the egg! A seed ,also referred to as a kernel in some plants, is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. It is the product of the ripened ovule of plants which occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in seed plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination. Genesis 1:14 & 15 “Then God said, “let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.” Genesis 1:14 & 15 “Then God said, “let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.” Signs Seasons Days Years Sign (Hebrew): “A signal, as a flag, beacon, monument, omen.” Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Genesis 1:16-19 “And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.” The Moon The Age of the Sun 40% Brighter Energy by thermonuclear fusion (hydrogen to helium) The core of the sun should alter and the sun should grow brighter with age If the sun is 4.6 byo, it should have brightened by about 40% The Sun and Life Looking backwards: Earth’s average temperature today is 59º F or 15º C A 25% decrease in brightness decreases the average temperature by about 32O F (18O C) (59o – 32o = 27o F (3.5 billion years ago) The origination of life would be impossible! Seven of the eight planets of our solar system follow highly circular orbits, despite the fact that NASA must plan with great precision to put a satellite into a nearly circular orbit and have difficulty keeping it there very long. Modern theories predict our planets should have developed abnormalities in their orbits long ago, producing wildly elliptical orbits. There is no natural reason why the outward force produced by this revolving should so perfectly counterbalance gravitation, except that if it didn’t, all these spinning systems would either crash in on themselves or fly apart. Note Again Colossians 1:16&17 Colossians 1:16&17 “For by him all things were created, both in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things have been created by Him, and for him; and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” If Jupiter had fallen into such an orbit, it would bring showers of asteroids into our planet’s path. Instead, Jupiter serves as a cosmic vacuum cleaner, attracting asteroids and comets to itself and keeping our earth’s path clear for extended periods. A heat problem for evolutionists: Jupiter emits twice as much radiation as it receives from the sun, while Neptune emits 2.7 times as much as it receives. Yet, if our solar system was billions of years old, both should be cold planets by now, but they aren’t. Earth's Major Motions: Motion Speed Rotation on axis..................................1,000 mph (at equator) Revolution around the sun................66,600 mph Solar-system travel around the galaxy.............................500,000 mph Overall motion of the galaxy..............1,100,000 mph Genesis 1:16-19 “And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. (Oops!) Gen. 1:16 “He made the stars also.” “The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible.” The Fine-Tuning of the Universe There are over sixty parameters in the universe and our galaxy that must have values falling within narrowly defined ranges for life of any kind to exist at any time in the history of the universe. Fine Tuning of the Universe A 1” cube contains a billion, billion, billion atoms. Let’s see what that looks like. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 If the strength of the gravitational force were altered by a mere one part in 10 to the 40th power (wow!), stars like the sun would not exist, nor would any form of life that depends on solar-type stars for sustenance. Evidences for a Young Universe Supernova remnants (SNRs) Crab Nebula Light from the supernova reached the earth in 1054 Supernova Remnants Predict the Age of the Universe: Supernova remnants Stage First Number of observable SNRs predicted if our galaxy is: Billions of years old Actual number observed 7000 years old 2 2 5 Second 2260 125 200 Third 5000 0 0 Galaxy Formation Spiral Galaxies Milky Way Galaxy Russell Humphreys, Ph.D. Physics, Evidence for a Young World “The stars of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, rotate about the galactic center with different speeds, the inner ones rotating faster than the outer ones. The observed rotation speeds are so fast that if our galaxy were more than a few hundred million years old, it would be a featureless disc of stars instead of its present spiral shape.” Star Nurseries Do pictures confirm stars are forming? Eagle nebula Star Formation “The complete birth of a star has never been observed. The principles of physics demand some special conditions for star formation and also for a long time period. A cloud of hydrogen gas must be compressed to a sufficiently small size so that gravity dominates.” “In space, however, almost every gas cloud is light-years in size, hundreds of times greater than the critical size needed for a stable star. As a result, outward gas pressures cause these clouds to spread out farther, not contract.” There are 100 billion galaxies with an average of 200 billion stars per galaxy. Let’s give the evolutionist a break an assume the universe is supposedly 20 billion years old instead of 13.5 billion. Star Formation – A problem for the Big Bang There are 100 billion galaxies with an average of 200 billion stars per galaxy. That’s 200 quintillion (200,000,000,000,000,000,000) stars! Let’s give the evolutionist a break an assume the universe is supposedly 20 billion years old instead of 14.5 billion. Star Formation and Time – Big Bang Problem! 100 billion galaxies (1011) 200 billion stars per galaxy (2x1011) Universe 20 billion years old (2x1010) Calculation of Star Formation: 100 Billion x 200 Billion 20 billion 1 trillion stars formed per year! 2.7 billion stars being formed per day! 31,700 stars being formed per second! No one has ever observed a star being formed!
