Corporate & Regulatory Analyst (permanent) ROLE PROFILE GENERAL DETAILS Role Title Corporate & Regulatory Analyst Location Singapore Department Marketing Finance GBF Band Band 7 Reports to (manager) Corporate & Regulatory Accountant Type of Work Core Operational Work Manager once removed Finance Manager- Corporate Date April 2017 CONTEXT As a result of the changing environment in commodity markets, Anglo American has centralised its marketing & sales activities in one Marketing Business Unit in order to enhance commercial capabilities and extract full value of the commercial value chain. With the centralisation comes the need for new ways of working, efficient processes and procedures, standardised IM systems as well as a new organisational model to be implemented to create a world class centralised, super-efficient, twin centred marketing function that can anticipate market developments and proactively plan sales and marketing activities with full information, visibility and a fast, efficient decision making process. PURPOSE The Corporate & Regulatory Analyst is responsible for closing the ledgers of the central cost (‘corporate’) Singapore and London SAP entities and for loading the data into HFM. The Corporate & Regulatory Analyst manages the employee costs data and assist the Corporate & Regulatory accountant in recharges for the marketing hubs. In addition, the Corporate & Regulatory Analyst will support the preparation of the required statutory, tax and regulatory compliance submissions, including other reporting like cost reports. TYPICAL TASKS Marketing hub ‘corporate costs’ ledgers – Responsible for day to day record keeping of the Corporate function entities (central support function ledgers) in Singapore and London. Responsible for submitting the data into HFM. Budgeting & forecast process – supports the submission of the budget and outlook corporate ledger data into HFM. Recharges – Responsible for preparation and invoicing of the marketing recharges for actuals and for explaining variances to stakeholders and commodities. Payroll entries - Prepares payroll entries for Singapore and London Corporate ledgers payroll. Manages process for invoicing with other entities. Perform GTP employee costs reconciliations. Works closely with HR to clarify specific payroll items. Advisory authority from Human Resource Manager. Tax/regulatory/statutory compliance and submission – Support in the preparation of required statutory and regulatory submissions including: statutory accounts for the London and Singapore marketing hubs. - Support in the preparation of financial data for GTP submissions. - Preparation of data for GST and VAT return submissions for the hub entities, - Provides support on the Corporation tax returns process, - Prepares insurance and statistic submission. 1 Document1 This role profile acts as a guide to the role only and additional work outcomes may be required to be performed by the incumbent - Consolidated board report submissions - Assist with preparation of consolidation of marketing performance reporting results Advisory authority from Group Tax Technical accounting – Assist with technical accounting matters involving Corporate’s ledgers. System Improvement – Assist the Corporate & Regulatory accountant in user acceptance testing, where necessary, for any system improvement in the corporate ledgers ROLE RELATIONSHIPS List the key role relationships: GSS For purposes of month end activities Corporate Transaction analyst - AP Provide guidance on coding Financial Reporting Accountants & Analysts Month-end timing coordination Group Tax Tax submissions HR Payroll coding External Auditors Provision of audit schedules and assist with audit queries CAPABILITY REQUIRED TO DO THE ROLE Knowledge Knowledge Understanding of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) processes (Level 1): Performs financial recording in accordance with group accounting principles Local statutory accounting standard and tax law Systems Configuration and Application (level 1): Is aware of how technology can be deployed to deliver efficiency, effectiveness and control to meet the defined business requirements. Understands the fundamental principles of effective financial systems. Proven track record in finance or audit role Working experience in trading or commercial environment Hand on experience in using integrated ERP system such as SAP and Hyperion. Technical Skills Skills required for role: Demonstrated ability to interface successfully at multiple organisation levels Results and customer service oriented, capable of holding self and others to account on delivery Credible communications skills Able to work independently and proactive Good problem solving skills Social Process Skills Demonstrated ability to interface successfully with multiple support functions such as tax and HR department as well has within the finance team and GSS.
