ISSRT 81st Annual Radiology Conference – April 20-22, 2016 Summary of Seminars 1. PROTECTING THE COMBATIVE PATIENT AND YOURSELF! Violent situations occur in the workplace every day, however most of the time they are not noticed before they happen and are rarely reported. It is best to be prepared for the violence, whether it is physical or verbal: understanding your situational awareness and knowing the signs of a violent person will help protect the patient and yourself. - Paul J Head, Security Manager 2. You will journey through real life cases of organizations being “BUSTED” and find out what penalties they received (get your pocket book out!). We will clarify what is expected of you as a healthcare professional and make you aware of what “really” classifies as a HIPAA violation (gossip, sharing, social media). You will surely be surprised! - Julie Ostrowski RT (R), ISSRT President Elect , Conference Chair 3. Radiographers will be presented with some of the challenges faced by recipients. This seminar covers some of the main effects of immune-suppression medications, infection control, the use of contrast media post transplantation and the increased risk of various cancers among recipients. It will also explain the concerns many organ recipients have regarding repeated imaging and radiologic procedures. - Sue Bertellotti, BS, RT(R)(M), Co-Conference Chair 11.
