Speech Act Strategy and Implementation of Principles of Humorist on Social Media as Media
to Maintain Diversity of Multicultural Society in NKRI

Abstract
Social media is a new communication medium that is very popular in Indonesia. The majority of
Indonesians use social media to convey ideas directly and indirectly with various speech acts. The
purpose of this study are: (1) how is the speech act strategy used in the context of humor in social media
as a medium to maintain the diversity of multicultural society in NKRI? (2) how is the implementation of
the principle of language politeness in the context of humor in social media to maintain the diversity of
multicultural society in NKRI? And (3) how is the function of speech and politeness strategy to build
diversity of multicultural society in NKRI? The method used is descriptive qualitative with pragmatic
approach. Data were taken from social media and analytical techniques using techniques flowing from
start to finish and deduced by deductive techniques. Results and discussion are found as follows: (1)
speech acting strategy used in the context of humor in social media consists of: speech actors, illocution,
and perlokusi as media to maintain the diversity of multicultural society in NKRI. (2) the implementation
of the principles of language courtesy in the context of humor in social media consists of indirect speech
acts as a medium to maintain the diversity of multicultural society in NKRI, and (3) the function of
speech and courtesy strategy consists of convincing, motivating, educating, unifying and Entertaining
contextually to build diversity of multicultural society in NKRI. Thus strategy of polite speech in polite
communication in social media can be one of the media to maintain multicultural society diversity in
NKRI.
