ALEXANDER ROJAS
Alex is a partner at the law firm of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP based in New York
City. He brings more than twenty five years of professional experience in representing
and counseling individuals and corporations on all aspects of U.S. immigration law
related to permanent residence, naturalization, work visas, I-9 audits, and removal
proceedings. He is responsible for the firm’s representation of a diverse group of clients
across many industries, including large multinational corporations, small, mid-level
and start-up companies, and individuals and investors. Alex is a graduate of Tufts
University and Cardozo School of Law. At the firm, he is Co-Chair of the EB-5 Unit, and
heads up the Arts and Entertainment division of the firm. The legal community has
recognized his work with listings in Who's Who in American Law, The International Who’s
Who of Corporation Immigration Lawyers and New York Super Lawyers.
PARISA KARAAHMET
Prior to joining Fragomen, Parisa served as an Assistant District Counsel and Acting
Deputy District Counsel for the Immigration & Naturalization Service, New York District.
At Fragomen, she leads a team that specializes in individual and complex immigration
matters and also manages a number of corporate accounts. Her area of specialty
includes advising clients with respect to criminal and other inadmissibility grounds,
employer sanctions, E-verify and I-9 compliance and enforcement. Additionally, Parisa
leads a team that specializes in EB-5 immigrant investor and entrepreneurial visas, and
is a member of the firm’s Worldwide Investor Group.
On the corporate compliance advisory group side, Parisa represents a variety of large,
mid-size and smaller companies in their immigration matters, including those in the
financial services, medical, pharmaceutical, and technology sectors. She also regularly
advises academic institutions and non-profit organizations in their immigration
matters.
Parisa has been a faculty member/presenter for the Judicial Institute at Pace University
and a guest lecturer at Cardozo Law School and is a frequent speaker at national
conferences on a variety of immigration topics such as EB-5 immigration compliance, I9 business immigration matters, and criminal immigration issues. Parisa has chaired
conferences and presented at panel events sponsored by the Practicing Law Institute
(PLI), the American Bar Association (ABA) and other prestigious organizations.
Kristal Ozmun
Kristal is an Associate in Miller Mayer’s Immigration practice group. Ms. Ozmun focuses
her practice on employment-based immigration with a unique specialization in the EB5 preference category. Ms. Ozmun represents EB-5 regional centers in matters related
to both immigration law and corporate and securities law, including designation,
compliance, and governance. She also advises EB-5 investors in navigating the
immigration process and represents a variety of individual clients seeking nonimmigrant and immigrant status. Ms. Ozmun is a member of the Massachusetts and
New York State bars. She received her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and her
B.A. from the College of Charleston.
Genevieve Roman
Genevieve joined the team at Extell New York Regional Center (“ENYRC”) in 2011. As
In-House Immigration Counsel to the regional center, her primary responsibilities
include helping EB-5 investors navigate and understand the immigration processes,
working closely with immigration counsel representing our investors, as well as outside
counsel to the regional center. Genevieve is also responsible for advising the regional
center on monitoring and maintaining the legal and regulatory compliance of ENYRCsponsored investment projects through the entire EB-5 life-cycle. ENYRC was formed
in 2010 by Extell Development Company (“Extell”). Recognized as one of New York City’s
most active real estate developers, Extell is a nationally acclaimed developer of
commercial, residential, retail, hospitality and mixed-use properties, with a portfolio
that exceeds 20 million square feet.
