Dear Softball Participant:
Attached are the softball bracket, rules and maps for the Capitol Sports
Association (CSA) USA Softball fastpitch tournament that will take place at
Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks, Nevada on June 24-25, 2017. 200 foot
fences will be on all fields.
The 16 and 18 division will be combined for seeding purposes only. All teams will
play a seeding round of three games on Saturday to determine placement for
Sunday play. ON Sunday, the top two finishers from a round robin will advance to
the championship game. While the Sunday schedule is included in this package,
the Sunday unfilled bracket will be posted Saturday at the tournament sites and
on www.capitolsports.org by Wednesday evening.
Park Rules
Please make sure that you discuss with your group the park rules, which are
included in this packet . In addition, please be advised that Only One (1) 5-gallon
water jug filled with ice and water per team will be permitted within the complex.
This will be strictly enforced. Additional coolers and ice chests are not allowed in
the Sports Complex by parents, players, or spectators.
Individuals can bring to the complex individual water bottles and have additional
bottles in their bags.
In addition, we ask that you make a point of abiding by the posted rules and clean
up any litter that has accumulated related to your game. Your cooperation on this
matter is very much appreciated
On Saturday, managers are responsible for providing to tournament personnel a
phone number and contact person to obtain game time for the single elimination
event.

TOURNAMENT RULES

Any changes to a team roster must be made with the tournament site director prior to
the start of a team’s first game. A player may play for only one team in the
tournament. Any violation of this rule will result in forfeiture of games where the
player if found in violation and automatic removal from the tournament.

Home team will be determined by a flip of a coin and is the official book.

No infield warm-ups between games. Metal Cleats are not allowed at Golden
Eagle.

On Saturday a team can bat everybody in there lineup and also have unlimited
courtesy runners (anybody on your team. You can’t use the same runner in the same
inning)

All games on Saturday shall not have a new inning after 75 minutes. On Sunday, all
games except the championship game will not have a new inning after 80 minutes.
The championship game shall not have a new inning after 90 minutes

For the seeding placement only, games ending in a tie after the time limit will not
continue. Each team will be awarded a half win.

A Player, Coach or Spectator ejected from a game will not be allowed to participate
in the next scheduled game. Director may impose additional penalties if warranted.

On Sunday, with the exceptions noted below, straight ASA rules are used

Extra Player is allowed and listed as an EP on the line-up card. The extra player can
be listed anywhere in the batting order. Any 9 of the 10 batters listed, can play
defense and will be known as FREE DEFENSIVE SUBSTITUTION. Any change of
the 10th batter to a defensive player will not be a substitution. The DP/Flex may also
be used in addition to the EP. If using the DP/Flex , the Flex is always at the bottom
spot in the batting order.

A 15 run rule after any inning, 12 after 3 innings. 10 after 4, and 8 after 5 will apply
for all games. For seeding games only, if a team has a 10 run lead when the
time limit expires, the drop dead rule is applied, and the score at the time of
the expiration of time is used.

All consolation games will have an 75-minute drop-dead time limit.

The tournament or site director will resolve protests.
POOL TIE BREAKERS FORMULA FOR EACH PLACEMENT, i.e. first place is first
determine, then the full formula is reapplied to second, third and fourth in that order:
1. Total Win/Loss Record
2. Head to Head Competition
3. Total Runs Allowed
4. Total Runs Scored
5. Coin Flip

Directions:
I-80 east to the Vista Blvd. exit, head north on Vista Blvd. to
Wingfield Springs (approximately 8 miles). The park is located onehalf mile past the entrance to Wingfield Springs. Entrance to the
park is on the right hand side just prior to Fire Station #5. The Little
League Diamonds are at the same address on the north side of
GERP.

Sunflower seeds and nuts with shells are not allowed at Golden Eagle
Regional Park
No ice chests within the Softball Complexes (Water Jugs permitted, see
below)
No glass
No alcohol
No gum
No animals (leashed dogs on Regional trails only)
No metal cleats
No barbeques
No overnight parking
No skateboards, scooters, bicycles, or rollerblades
No hitting golf balls
No staking of signs, banners, tents, shade, or umbrellas into the turf
VIOLATORS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE FACILITY
