Pros vs. Joes
The Pros vs. Joes game demonstrates power of basketball players that hold an important
part in the world of sports as all-stars. Pros vs. Joes is a basketball game that consists of all-star
professional basketball players (playing the role of “Pro”) and a non-professional basketball
player as the opponent (playing the role of “Joe.”) The game will not only show the capability
and strength of the player, but will also illustrate that the difference of gender roles does not
matter. Meaning, the game will be a combination of male and female players of different ethnic
backgrounds who are successful today; the most important thing is the power to win against your
opponent. This game is trying to send out the message that sexuality and gender is not necessary
or important in becoming a successful player as long as you have the potential to do so. The
game will allow the player to choose from a list of successful basketball players to compete
against. The goal of the game is to defeat your opponent, the “Pro.”
How to Play:
The motive of the game is to start with level one as a “Joe” player and play a game of
basketball against a professional. The player chooses a player to begin level one and as the
player progresses to the next level, they will challenge another all-star professional. Although,
the last level is a little different, it is strictly against one player- Michael Jordan. If you win
against this professional character, you win the game.

Mechanics:
The game can only be played on an X-BOX or PlayStation 3.The player will have the
option to choose the character they want to play against on each level.” For example, the player
might choose Dwight Howard as the opponent player for level one. If the Joe beats the Pro on
that level, the Joe will progress to the next level and challenge the next professional all-star.
Levels:
Each level has its own difficulty point. Level one obviously begins much easier than the
following level. The levels basically develop the process of the game. There are a total of five
levels:
Level One: Rebound game- This level forces the player to meet a criteria or drill in a certain
given time.
Level Two: Skills Challenge Game- The level tests the skills of how fast the player can dribble,
pass, shoot, and perform a lay-up or dunk in a faster time to beat the Pro, in order to pass the
level.
Level Three: Shoot-out game- The Pro and the Joe are each given five balls at different spots on
the court and one chance each to make all the shots in a given time.
Level Four: Dunk Contest- This level includes judges who judge the players’ dunks.
Level Five: One-on-One vs. Michael Jordan- A one-on-one game with one of the best legend allstar players in NBA history.

Setting:
The setting of the game will depend on the level of the game. Level one’s game might
start off in a small basketball gym compared to a level five game that might be in the Staples
center. The game will include audience and watchers as the players progress onto each game.
Rules:
There are three important rules that must be met: The first rule of the game would be that
the player will only be able to choose one player throughout the entire play for each level; they
will not be able to switch characters in between a level before the particular level is passed. The
second rule is that the player will only get one chance on defeating his/her opponent. Once the
game has reached its time, either the Pro wins the level or the Joe wins and moves onto the next
challenge. The third and final rule of the game is that the player cannot be helped on any of the
rounds; it is a one-on-one player game.
Characters:
At the beginning of the game, you (as being the Joe) have the option to choose if your
character wants to be female or male. There will be a list of ten basketball players (a combination
of male and female players) that you choose to play against; each level will start off with the
easiest player leading up to the all-star professional opponent Kobe Bryant game. These
characters will be real all-star basketball players embodied as fictional. Five NBA Pro characters
to choose from will include Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Dwight Howard, and
Carmelo Anthony. And five of the WNBA Pro characters will include Lisa Leslie, Swin Cash,
Candace Parker, Penny Taylor, and Sylvia Fowles.

The incentive of the game is to be given the chance to defeat a professional basketball
player in a game of basketball and to receive strength points as the levels progress. It also gives
the player the chance to prove themselves against a professional player, demonstrating power
over someone who already possesses empowerment in sports by being professionally trained and
well-established.
