Summer Reading and Math 2017 New Franklin School Donna Turco Reading Specialist Statistics Students with access to books over summer perform 35-50% higher on reading achievement tests. Students who don't read fall an average of 2 months behind. Students who read over the summer make slight gains! Helping your child Grow! Engage in conversation Stimulating conversation boosts language and vocabulary skills. Comprehension skills are enhanced when talking about what was read.
