BACHELOR OF
PSYCHOLOGY
What is CSU’s
Bachelor of
Psychology?
Psychology is concerned with the scientific understanding of human behaviour.
It involves the application of psychological knowledge to solve social and behavioural
problems and promote human welfare.
CSU’s Bachelor of Psychology prepares students for careers as psychologists in a
range of fields by meeting the initial requirement for training in psychology. This course
can be studied on campus at CSU in Bathurst, Port Macquarie or Wagga Wagga over
four years full-time, or online over eight years part-time.
Why study CSU’s
Bachelor of
Psychology?
CSU’s Bachelor of Psychology provides you with a comprehensive degree in psychology
that will form the foundation for your future career. You will acquire knowledge across
a range of key areas including cognition, developmental and social psychology,
psychological testing, biopsychology, psychopathology, personality, learning theory
and research methodology. You will also study units in sociology, and complete a minor
study chosen from disciplines including biology, English, history and politics, human
resource management, Indigenous studies, information technology, justice studies,
management, marketing, mathematics and statistics, philosophy, social welfare,
and sociology.
A broad choice of electives is available, including units on substance abuse, stress
and trauma, and the psychology of crime and the legal system. You will also have the
opportunity to apply to complete a supervised experience at an international university.
Meritorious students will be eligible to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours),
and all students must satisfy academic criteria by the end of third year (or equivalent)
in order to progress into the fourth year (or equivalent) of this course. Students who
don’t satisfy the criteria for progression to fourth year will graduate with a three-year
psychology degree, the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). The Bachelor of Social
Science (Psychology) may also be used as a pathway to the Bachelor of Psychology for
students who do not meet the initial entry requirements.

I couldn’t speak highly enough of CSU,
the lectures and tutorials were
small classes so you felt like an
INDIVIDUAL,
not just another number, and all the staff
were extremely approachable.
