Adaptations-Surviving in Ecosystems Study Guide Test Date: Thursday November 7th Adaptation: A trait or behavior that helps a living thing survive in its environment Accommodation: An individual’s response to a change in its ecosystem Camouflage: An adaptation in which an organism blends in with its environment Extinct: When all the individuals of a species are no longer living Endangered: Very few of a species are left; close to becoming extinct Hibernate: Deep rest or sleep through cold winter Migrate: To move to warmer temperatures during cold winter Mimicry: When a species has traits that resemble another species While there are only 8 new words, the test has 24 questions. There are 5 multiple choice questions from previous material. The questions from the new material are both multiple choice and fill in the blank. It is not all memorizing the definition, but applying what you know. An example is, “Of the following, what is the best example of camouflage.” The choices would include examples and non-examples of camouflage.
