What is Gravity?
The Gravity™ Media Production Management System provides an unparalleled
software based solution to the problem of managing increasing amounts and
different formats of video in the production process. It is targeted at a variety of
users including newscasters, sportscasters and other commercial media
operations that need to produce more and/or better content while improving
both their publishing speed and their final product.
What makes Gravity different?
• Gravity improves your workflow process, quality, and speed to air.
• Gravity supports HD/SD/WEB, 4:3 & 16:9 and all reside on the same timeline.
• Gravity provides multiple live feed ingest and system monitoring over IP.
• Gravity enables live editing of incoming feeds within 2 seconds of the
start of ingest.
• Gravity supports simultaneously publishing in multiple bit rates ranging from
streaming media to High Definition.
• Gravity is networkable and supports standard web browser access.
• Gravity enables remote media production with encoders, storage and
decoders located on wide area IP-based networks.
• Gravity software is modular and scalable and may be configured to suit
your needs.
• Gravity uses standard PC servers and networking hardware.

Gravity is a complete Media Production Management System,
offering tools for Content Acquisition, Preparation, Production,
Media Management and Monitoring. It features a stream-based,
format independent media engine for encoding, cataloguing,
indexing, editing and distribution with local or remote access to
media via an icon based user interface.
Our system uses the latest software and hardware technologies
to provide a format and compression independent platform.
This flexibility allows users to work in any format, HD, SD or low
bit rate streaming media, including mixing multiple resolutions
simultaneously. Our TCP/IP based system uses an industry
standard SQL database to store content information, including
user-added metadata.
Gravity provides users the reliability of fully redundant
hardware elements and multiple network links to remote sites.

Asset Manager
PPT
The Gravity Asset Manager software provides an overview of
the entire system and control of the media processes. From
this central area, users can monitor the flow of media via the
ingest encoders, viewing multiple motion video windows per
instance and access a comprehensive suite of content
management tools such as the Scheduler, Media Manager,
System Monitor and Metadata management. Programme
managers and editors can highlight and bookmark material
for viewing, editing, searching, logging, and assigning
material and projects to teams or individuals.
The Gravity Package Production Tool (PPT) is an intuitive but
feature rich video editor that has been designed for fastpaced environments such as breaking news. The PPT GUI
layout provides a multi-window display that is fully
customisable for each user and provides mixed format
timeline video and audio editing. The PPT is packed with a
comprehensive set of editing, browse, search and
monitoring tools and allows the user to edit HD / SD, 4:3 /
16:9 simultaneously on the same timeline. Media is available
for edit within 2 seconds of recording. Stories can be cut,
published and played out while the system is still
capturing/streaming the raw material. Additional
information and metadata can then be added. Format
information is tracked per clip which provides the transcoder
with the correct sizing information for aspect ratio
conversion upon completion.
Scheduler
Encoder & Decoder
The Gravity Scheduler provides a streamlined graphical
interface for controlling encodes and decodes. The Gravity
Scheduler allows the user to set up a series of timed events
on a clear graphical timeline, offering a choice of crash,
single, one time encodes or regular multiple recurring
events. The user can lock resources and visually display and
modify router control. The software allows for sorting and
grouping of encoders as needed for better monitoring or
prioritisation.
Encoder creates multiple simultaneous stream files of the
source content at three data rates. Gravity has been
designed to operate in widely distributed environments by
making use of multi-rate encoding techniques. Data rates are
user selectable and are tuned to accommodate the desired
balance between the number of simultaneous users, picture
and sound quality and site bandwidth. By creating multiple
data rate versions, users can create several formats for their
varied network environments.
Gravity allows users to install encoders and decoders at
remote locations and automatically acquire and distribute
video and audio content to central content servers where it
is immediately available for use.

Content Server
Web Browser
The Gravity Content Server is a fully redundant, high
availability media storage device. The server provides
prioritised, managed media services for ingest and
distribution. The Gravity server is a completely scalable
system; by adding additional storage and/or Server Nodes
to the cluster there is no set limit to the number of user
stations that can be added.
The Gravity Web Client is a scaled down version of the
Gravity Asset Manager and PPT that runs within a standard
Web Browser. The Web Client enables remote system access
from literally any location using a standard PC with a
high-speed internet connection, keeping your team
productive no matter where they are. It provides all of the
browse, search, sequencing and playback functionality a user
needs to get a story to air.
Data Server
Studio Monitor
Gravity data management relies on standard SQL relational
database technology to store and retrieve metadata. This
includes user metadata such as object ID, story name,
bookmark information, notes, embargo and duration, as well
as media metadata such as file name, size, location, codecs,
track types, aspect ratio and frame rate. Internally, all Gravity
components use XML as a data transport wherever possible.
Direct SQL requests, are performed generically, enabling
them to be vendor independent. Gravity is fully MOS
compliant, with a unique MOS ID and Automatic Data
Update functionality.
Gravity Studio Monitor provides a fully configurable
monitoring station that provides a clear visual overview of
system activity. It allows the user to monitor multiple devices
(encoders & decoders with audio levels) on a single screen.
