Numbers
Irrational numbers
• Are numbers that cannot be written as a fraction, a
terminating decimal, or repeating decimals.
• Examples include: π and 2
• An architect is drawing a landscaping plan which
include three square cement blocks with areas of
2
bases approximately 5, 31, and 98𝑓𝑡 . To find the
length of a side of each block, she finds the square
root of each area. Find the value of each to the
nearest hundredth: 5, 31, 98.
Find the value of 18 to the nearest hundredth.
Theorem
• The square root of the product of two nonnegative
numbers is the same as the product of their square
roots.
