Counsellor profiles Adults Dr Alison Davies is a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (the BACP). Alison has worked with clients who have experienced or are experiencing depression, anxiety and loss. In addition, she works with adult clients who have experienced neglect, trauma and/or abuse in their childhood, and who seek some understanding of these experiences in adulthood. Recently, she has experience of working with older people. Some of these come to counselling to talk through the changing demands and roles expected of them as they age. Typical themes include caring for partners, fear of dying and/or illness and neglect by grown-up children. In addition to her work as a therapist, Alison has just completed her PhD at the Open University, writing about working therapeutically with children. Her thesis is entitled ‘It’s a problem with the brain: A discursive analysis of parents’ constructions of ADHD’. She has also contributed to handbooks on mental health on the topic of ADHD in children and adults. Alison is currently interested in narratives of women with ADHD. Nick Downing is a BACP registered, with a post-graduate qualification from the University of Hertfordshire, and has considerable experience of working with young people and adults across a wide range of community settings. With his focus being on the importance of the therapeutic relationship, Nick believes that the integration of his life experience, various trainings, and experience as a counsellor enables him to create a secure and welcoming space where this can take place in confidence and with respect. He has particular experience and interest in working with: anxiety and depression; stress; trauma; self-esteem; self-confidence; transitions, bereavement, and loss; creative blocks and procrastination; masculinity and men’s issues; and sexual orientation and identity issues. Katrina Gibbons-Marshall trained on an MA/PgD accredited psychodynamic course from the University of Hertfordshire. She is a Member of BACP and a member of Spiritual well being . Katrina is Addiction 12-step trained and specialises in trauma and working with children and teenagers. Warren Jeffries is a qualified integrative counsellor and holds a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre in North West London (2013). He is a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and works in accordance with its Code of Ethics. As an integrative counsellor, Warren does not adhere to any one particular theoretical approach, or counselling tradition. Instead, he seeks to employ what is best in the field of counselling, and integrate this in a way that best meets the client’s individual needs. Gillian Marchant is an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and manages the counselling service at the Letchworth Centre. Gillian’s qualifications include Post Graduate Diploma with commendation in Psychodynamic and Person Centred Counselling from the University of Hertfordshire (2006), Post qualifying Certificate with distinction, in Family Therapy (2011) and Certificate in Supervision from Institute for Individual Psychology (2013) She is an experienced counsellor offering professional and confidential one to one counselling to adults and young people as well as sessions with families on both a long and short term basis. Veda Ryan Veda trained as a nurse in 1981 and then as a midwife in 1986. She has worked in midwifery practice since 1986, and has always had a keen interest in women’s health and wellbeing. She qualified as a counsellor in 2011 with an MA in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling . As a psychodynamic counsellor she integrates her clinical experience with the emotional support of bereaved parents and perinatal mental health. She has a keen interest in depression . Natalie Sayer is an experienced and professional counsellor working with adults and young people, providing a confidential, high quality service within a safe environment. Natalie is a registered member of the BACP and trained at the University of Hertfordshire to Masters degree level. She maintains regular ongoing training (Continued Professional Development) and is committed to learning about and being consistently aware of current developments in the field of therapy. She works daytimes, evening and weekends. Tabitha Stebbings Qualified with PGDip from University of Hertfordshire in 2013 having previously worked as Director of FTSE 100 company and in the NHS. Tabitha’s experience includes working in a drug and alcohol addiction charity. Currently she works with a range of issues including: bereavement, anxiety and depression, fetish, OCD, childhood abuse including sexual; adoption; self harming; trauma; rape; relationship breakdown; failed IVF; attachment issues; sexuality; redundancy; coping with retirement and coping with disability. Sylvia Sterling is an experienced counsellor and supervisor. She works in an integrative way calling on all the training she has had and her 15 years of working in this field to help the client find the best tools to manage their life differently and make the changes they want. She works with individuals and couples on a both a long and short term basis specialising in Anxiety, Depression and communication in relationships. Sylvia is an Accredited member of the BACP and works according to their ethical framework and guidelines Gill Titmuss is an open-minded and experienced counsellor who has been a qualified Counsellor since 2007. Gill uses both psychodynamic and person-centred approaches looking at the client as a whole person and an individual. Gill has worked for 15 years in the drug and alcohol field and has built up a wealth of knowledge in that field. Gill’s specialisms are addictions and sexual abuse or rape, though she is comfortable and capable at dealing with a vast scope of problems and issues; for instance, relationship issues, depression and anxiety, and workplace problems. Elaine Wright gained her Level 4 Diploma at Barnfield College in 2009 and became Accredited with the BACP Accredited in 2014. Elaine works using the Person Centred and Psychodynamic approaches along with a strong interest in mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy. Attachment Theory and the latest research in Neuroscience also inform her work, giving her an interesting and up to date pallet from which to work. Elaine has been seeing clients at the Letchworth Centre for Healthy Living since 2009 and is an Integrated Counsellor.
