Dear Parents,
For God so loved the world was our focus this week. We are part of
the world that God loves!
We sang Kookaburra, Kumbyya, and Love Somebody Yes I Do.
We played a game with the last one. It was one of those rare
events that we got to run in the classroom.
It Rained Hearts is about Cornelia Augusta who caught hearts
raining for the sky. She made one group of hearts into a
necklace. Another heart was placed on a piece of construction
paper and then she put a cotton ball in the middle of the
heart. She glued some on a card and painted around them.
She sent them to her animal friends. The children were sure it
was a pretend story. Kangaroo Kazoo is a story that shows
there are not many words that begin with k. The kangaroos
had different color kazoos. The /k/ sound is very popular in
the other parts of words. We watched a video of a
kookaburra singing his beautiful happy song.
Passing out Valentines was an exciting event. The Valentine
boxes showed much creativity. Each student cut out a heart
to prepare for a messy project. The heart was taped to
another piece of paper. Next, shaving cream was placed on
the heart. The child put drops paint on the shaving cream.
Then the mixing of paint and shaving cream began. Last we
were a fluffy mess, so we went to the sink to wash up. The
classroom smells so good! While all this was going on
students counted hearts and Valentines while other children
searched the rice table for surprises.
The students worked extra hard on Thursday. They wrote K.
It is hard to make that diagonal line kick in and out. We found
another word that has two meanings. A kid can be a baby
goat or a child. We colored a K with a kitten and a kite on it.
Mat Man has started making his way home. Please play with him
and return him the next class day.
Love in Christ,
Mrs. Maddick
