Preface Integration Service Database Installation Guide - Oracle Version 1.0 1. Preface Kony Platform provides an integrated approach in the mobile application design, development and management. The Platform facilitates the design and development of mobile applications in a device independent manner and delivers them in different formats that run on all the major device platforms. The Kony Platform consists of three main components: l Kony Visualizer: Used to design and develop the mobile applications. l Kony Server: Provides server side functionality for the applications, common data integration and device support services. l Client Runtime component for each major device platform that enables the same mobile application to execute directly on the device. 1.1 Kony Server The application functionality developed and generated by the Kony Visualizer is enabled and delivered using the Application Server. The SMS and Mobile Web channels are hosted on the Application Server and the Native App binaries are deployed to the server, to be downloaded by the device. The Application Server has the following features: l A sophisticated device database that enables it to detect and deliver the appropriate binary to a requesting device. l Inbuilt backend data services integration capability, with out-of-the-box support for Web Services, XML feeds and HTML extraction. l Integration with optional third party connector libraries that offer access to a large number of ERP, database and legacy systems. l Built in usage tracking and analysis capability that provides a wide range of reports on system and application use. © 2013 by Kony, Inc. Database Sizing and Configuration The following is the sample sizing information. You could also use it for standard setups. Storage sizing for Kony Database Storage Elements Space Required System Tablespace 500 MB to 1000 MB Sysaux Tablespace 550 MB to 1000 MB Undo Tablespace: 500 MB to 4000 MB USERS Tablespace Upto 500 GB (for medium business systems), 2000 GB (for large business systems) and Data files each of size 2 GB. Please use n*2 GB (where n is number of data files). Database Sizing and Oracle Configuration Version 1.0 Memory sizing for Kony Database RAM (MB) System Global Area max size (MB) System Global Area target size (MB) No. of concurrent connections (numbers) 2048 1343.2 843.2 100 4096 2686.4 1686.4 200 8192 5372.8 3372.8 400 4.1 Kony Database Sizing Details Database Growth Each unique user request from a device logs approximately 2 KB of data into the database. For example, if the application has 60,000 user requests from device per week, then the database grows, approximately, at the following rate: 60,000 user requests from device per week = 2 KB * 60000 = 117 MB 60,000 * 4 weeks = 468 MB (approximate) The above data does not include session error logging. For each device error/exception 2 KB data is generated. 2 GB of database space is used for initial database setup. From then on, the database grows as per the data volume that gets populated into it. To accommodate the data volume, it is ideal to set the storage allocation at 500 GB. 4.2 Scripts for Kony Database Setup The Database (Oracle) scripts are available at the Kony Developer Portal: http://developer.kony.com/KonyDBScripts © 2013 by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 13 of 21 4. Database Sizing and Integration Service Database Installation Guide - Configuration Oracle Version 1.0 Navigate to the relevant database section and click on Standard Database Scripts to download the scripts - Kony_Database_Setup_Oracle_<version>.zip. The Device Data scripts are available at: http://developer.kony.com/DeviceDB Navigate to the Oracle section and download devicestore_build_Ora.zip. Approximate time for Kony database setup: 2 hrs (excluding Oracle software installation). 4.3 Approach for Kony Database Setup You need to follow the "bottom>up" approach to perform the Kony database setup. It would be performed in the following order: 1. Operating System 2. Storage 3. Clusterware (if any) 4. Database software and Database 5. Database Setup Integration Service Database Installation Guide - Oracle Version 1.0 Important: KONYDB is the connection string that is used to connect to the database while executing the scripts. It is used in the following way: conn <username>/<password>@konydb Make sure not to change the connection string name KONYDB. Important: The scripts contain default values for the following items. Modify these default values with your DB environment specific values using find and replace.: users for tablespace. This is the default tablespace name. default for profile-name. This is the default profile name. kony123 for passwords of respective schemas. This is the default password. If you want to change the default values, modify as mentioned above with the actual values as per your database setup before running the scripts. 5.2 Set up database Perform the following tasks to set up the database: 1. Log on to Oracle Server as Sysdba. 2. Go to the file location where the scripts are copied. $ cd <Files_Location> 3. Open the konyadmin-oracle.sql script and add the following code at line number 6. conn konyadmin/kony123@konydb 4. Save the file and execute the script in following order. sqlplus /nolog sql> conn /as sysdba sql> set echo on; © 2013 by Kony, Inc. All rights reserved 17 of 21 5. Database Setup Integration Service Database Installation Guide - Oracle Version 1.0 sql> spool spool_konyadmin.log sql> @konyadmin-oracle.sql sql> spool off 5. Open the V1__konydevicedb-oracle-master.sql script and add the following code at the beginning of the script. conn konyadmin/kony123@konydb CREATE USER konydevicedb identified by kony123 default TABLESPACE USERS PROFILE default; ALTER USER konydevicedb QUOTA UNLIMITED ON USERS; GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE TO konydevicedb; conn konydevicedb/kony123@konydb 6. Save the file and execute the script in following order. sqlplus /nolog sql> conn /as sysdba sql> set echo on; sql> spool spool_konydevicedb.log sql> @V1__konydevicedb-oracle-master.sql sql> spool off 7. Verify both the spool files. 5.3 Database Setup Complete Important: If you are planning for the Kony Reports Portal, setup the Kony Reports Database by following the section Reports Portal Database Deployment © 2013 by Kony, Inc.
