Plant Cells
1. a) Photosynthetic Cells
b) Conducting Cells
c) Root Hair Cells
d) Guard Cells
2. The term organelles are the parts of a cell. Meaning ‘little
organs’ they assist the cell to move and co-operate.
3. a) The nucleus is a control centre of the cell. It controls all
chemical reactions in a cell and how the cell develops and
reproduces.
b) Cell wall is a rigid organelle that supports the shape of
the cells. It contains a tough fibrous material called
cellulose.
c) Containing a green chemical called, chlorophyll, it allows
the chlorophyll to capture light energy for photosynthesis.
4. Chlorophyll traps light energy for needed photosynthesis.
5. a) Root Hair Cells
b) Guard Cells
c) Conducting Cells
6. a) Chlorophyll – it contains a green chemical that makes it
the vibrant green colour it is and also allows for
photosynthesis as it collects light energy.
b) Cellulose – it is a tough, fibrous material that helps in
keeping the cell shape and rigid.
c) Sap – like a storage room (contains air, water, wastes and
food particles.
7. a) Carbon Dioxide + Water + Sunlight
b) Glucose + Oxygen
c) Glucose
d) Sun, Soil/Earth and the Atmosphere
8. a) Plants would not be capable of controlling water levels and
could starve.
b) The shape of the cell would collapse and it would lose all
structure.
c) The plant wouldn’t look green and photosynthesis can not
be completed.
9. a) Chlorophyll
b) Plants do not have bones to hold its shape.
c) To capture sunlight
d) One to capture water and the other for nutrients
10. This is because there are a larger variety of animals, hence
more animal cells.
11. This is because animals obtain energy from the things they
eat.
