Cronus who was de-throne by his son Zeus.
Most of the Titans fought with Cronus
against Zeus and were punished by being
banished to Tartarus. During their rule the
Titans were associated with the various
planets.
Mythology
• Myths
The Romans worshiped thousands of gods.
As they expanded their empire, they
discovered new gods worshiped by other
cultures. When they ran into a god that
sounded interesting, they adopted it.
When they discovered the Greek gods, they
adopted them all. They gave the Greek gods
Roman names, and acted as if they had been

Paganism
Pagan religions believed in many gods and
generally worshipped the earth, sea, sun, sky
and various other elements of nature. The
Romans were polytheistic and much of their
lives were spent in a effort to please their
gods. This was because ancient Romans
believed that their gods had great influence
over their daily lives. the Romans believed
that certain rituals and rites must be
performed in appreciation of the gods. As
the religion progressed, so too did the
rituals, this made it necessary to form
priesthood’s with specific rituals and
traditions. The ancient Roman religion is
one of the better known pagan religions.
Paganism: Rise
The ancient Roman religion is one of the
most well known pagan religions. It was
worshipped not only by the Romans, but by
the various communities which were taken
into the Roman empire. These communities
added to the state religion with their own
specific beliefs until it was a truly diverse
religion. Throughout the modern world, the
ancient roman religion is known as one of
the world’s first and most famous pagan
religions. It is the Roman and the Greek
religions which are the basic from modern
pagans take their beliefs.
Christianity
• Christianity- The third commandment came into
order. The Rome empire found out how they had to
convince the other half from the paganism into
Christianity.
• Which led to huge controversy.
Christianity
-Jesus Christ was born in
Palestine, then part of
the Roman Empire. In
about 26 A.D. he began
to preach, telling people
that he was the son of
God.
-29 A.D.
Jesus was killed by the
Romans for inciting
rebellion against
Rome.
He was crucified,
which
was a common and
gruesome death. The
followers of Jesus
were
soon given the
nickname
“Christians”.
Christianity
During the first century CE, a new
religion took hold in Rome. It was called
Christianity. The followers of
Christianity were called Christians.
Christians believed in one god. They
refused to worship the Roman gods. In
ancient Rome, that was against the law.
Christians were hunted as criminals.
In spite of persecution, Christians grew
in numbers rapidly. Christians actively
looked for converts. They told others
about the benefits of being Christian.
Christians came from every walk of life
in ancient Rome, but Christianity had
great appeal to Rome's poor.
