SeniorAccountant JobTitle:SeniorAccountant FLSAStatus:Exempt TypeofPosition:Full-time,Regular ReportingtoThisPosition:TBD Location:WashingtonDC Department:Finance ReportsTo:ChiefFinancialOfficer JOBSUMMARY ThePoliceFoundationisnationalnon-profitbipartisanorganizationthatconsistentwithits commitmenttoimprovepolicing,andhasbeenonthecuttingedgeofpoliceinnovationforover 40years.ThePoliceFoundation’sworkisinformedbyavailableevidence,toincreasepublic safetyandstrengthencommunities.TheprofessionalstaffatthePoliceFoundationworks closelywithlawenforcement,judges,prosecutors,defenseattorneys,victimadvocates,to developresearch,comprehensivereports,policybriefs,modelpolicies,andinnovative programsthatwillcontinuetosupporttheworkoflawenforcement(police&sheriffs) personnel.ThePoliceFoundationconductsinnovativeresearchandprovideson-the-ground technicalassistancetopoliceandsheriffsaswellasengagingpractitionersfrommultiple systems(corrections,mentalhealth,housing,etc.),local,stateandfederaljurisdictionsasit relatestopoliceresearch,policyandpractice. ThePoliceFoundationseekstohirea‘Handson’SeniorAccountanttojoinitsteam.TheSenior AccountantactivitieswillbecenteredonthedaytodayAccountingOperationsandwillrequire workingindependentlyinafast-pacedenvironment.TheSeniorAccountantwillworkclosely withtheExecutiveTeamandreportsdirectlytotheCFO. ESSENTIALDUTIES&RESPONSIBILITIES • Preparemonthlyallocationjournalentriesfromdatafilesforpayrollandproject expenditures. • Ensureexpensespostedbystaffaresubmittedandrecordedtimelyandcodedcorrectly. • Reviewmonthlyfinancialprojectexpenditurereportspreparedbyaccountingstaff. • Prepare/designbudgettemplatestoassistorganizationstaffwithgrantandprojectbudgets, preandpostaward. • Assistwithfinancialandprojectaudits/sitevisits. • Report,recordandreconcileinvestmentactivities. • Trainingandmentoringjuniorstaff. • EnsuremaintenanceofappropriateinternalcontrolsasrequiredunderGAAP. EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS • Minimum3yearsofexperienceinaccounting; • ExperiencewithQuickbooksispreferred; • ExperiencewithFederalGrantsispreferred.
