SORTING ACTIVITY: IS IT COMIDA? Instructions: If you want to use this multiple times, consider printing it on cardstock or laminating it. Otherwise, just cut the cards below out. Provide two containers and use the labels to identify which is which. Explain that “comida” is the Spanish word for food and that their task is to identify all of the pictures of foods and put them in the container labeled “¡Es la comida!” (It’s food!). Anything that isn’t food should go in the container labeled “No es.” (It’s not.) The best way to learn the word “comida” and its meaning is to say “comida” or “Es comida” out loud each time you see a card with food on it, so you can encourage participants to say “Es comida” as they work. (“Es” sounds like “s” when you are spelling or saying the alphabet as in “…Q, R, S, T…”) ¡Es la comida! No es.
