Andreas Vesalius
Objective
I believe that I should get the top award because I proved wrong the
ideas of the physician Galen, whose works were highly revered for all
human anatomy before more accuracy was taken account of. Galen
performed his experiments on animals, and therefore his work is
inaccurate because he is trying to reveal human anatomy on animals,
and I, more accurately used human cadavers for better correlation to
HUMAN anatomy. Galen’s anatomy became old news and my anatomy
paved way for the more accurate, more correct modern-day human
anatomy. I also wrote a very extensive medical encyclopedia De Humani
Corporis Fabrica. It is a vast eight-volume set of painstaking detail on the
human body and my findings are based on my own dissections on
human cadavers.
Education
University of Leuven and the University of Paris.
Paris, France
Medical Degree
I attended the University of Leuven and then the University of Paris.
At Paris, I studied medicine and showed a special interest in
surgery. Then in 1537, I received my medical degree from the
University of Padua and I became a lecturer on surgery.
Work experience

I served as apothecary to Maximilian.
Writer/Critic/Lecturer/Artist (anatomy pictures)
I was immediately offered the chair of Surgery and Anatomy (explicator
chirurgiae) at Padua.
Galileo once remarked on Vesalius, “Vesalius, known for his
remarkable studies of the human anatomy, is a marvelous scientist,
both intelligent and successful. We even share the quality of proving
other fellow scientists discoveries false due to our extensive
experiments.”
Harvey, the new and upcoming scientist, studying mainly on the
workings of the heart, once remarked that, “My colleague is marking a
new age of discoveries, observing and dissecting the human body,
rather than the bodies of animals, such as the scientist Galen already
has.”
One may say that Newton, the professor known for the gravitational
laws, is the greatest and most popular scientist. Even he recognized that
Vesalius was opening a new “body” of knowledge. He remarked,
“Although we may be professors of more vastly different studies, I
support Andreas Vesalius in his studies completely. He has started to
slowly pave the way for knowledge, and although we are very different in
our studies, I will support any scientist who will make new and innovative
studies.”
