TRUENEPH PLUS
Renal Diseases are common in Poultry. The major
causes include dehydration, hypovitaminosis A,
excessive dietary vitamin D3 or calcium ( greater
than 3% in non-laying hens) & protein, heavy
metal toxicity, bacterial nephritis secondary to
systemic disease. One of the important differentials
for primary renal disease is Urolithiasis and gout. In
gout, there is increase in uric acid content in
blood called hyperuricemia. excess uric acids start
depositing on serosal surfaces of the
pericardium, liver capsule, air sacs, and within the
kidney but may be found on any tissue (visceral
gout) or on articular surfaces in or around joints (
Articular gout).Articular gout lesions are
particularly common on the foot and hock. Clinical
signs of articular gout include reluctance to
move, shifting from leg to leg, lameness, and joint
swelling. Urolithiasis i.e presence of Urinary
tract calculi. Urolith development is most commonly
associated with severe dehydration; other
factors may include excess dietary calcium, dietary
electrolyte imbalances, infectious bronchitis
virus, mycoplasma synoviae infection, mycotoxicosis, or shipping stress. Excess dietary protein has
been correlated with increased production of uric
acid, but even with very high levels of dietary
protein (e.g 80%) gout develops only in genetically
susceptible individuals. Affected birds often
appear normal in the beginning & may later show
lethargy, straining, and death.
Viseral gout is rarely diagnosed ante mortem, and
birds are usually found dead.in Poultry, kidney
is frequently affected by toxins in the gut such as
heavy metals, anti-inflammatory agents, and
antibiotics. Because of the widespread and large
scale use of antibiotics in commercial poultry like
growth promoters (AGPs) anti-coccidials, etc Toxic
nepropatheis have become common. Drugs
with known potential for nethrotoxicity include
Aminoglycosides particularly gentamicin,
Tetracyclines and Sulfonamides etc

HOW IT WORKS!
Silymarin from Silybum has potential renoprotective effect.
Silymarin stimulates Kidney cells. It increases rate of
proliferation, Protein and DNA biosynthesis, and lactate
dehydrogenase activity (LDH) in Kidney cells, that have
been damaged in Vitro by nephrotoxic drugs. In studies, it
has further been demonstrated that administration of Silybin
prior to or following the chemical bound injury has prevented
or reduced nephrotoxic effects Foround et al, Gaedeke et al,
Karimi et al,
sanchez Gonzalez et al, Varzi etc silybin further counteracts
the leakage of ALT and Gamma glutamyl transferase and
prevent lipid per oxidation (LPO)Extracts of Terminalia
chebula have been demonstrated to act as renoprotiective
by decreasing LPO, restoring the activity of Glutanthionine S
transferase, Glutathionine reductase, and glutathionine
reductase (Gopi, reddy et al). B.diffusa extracts have also
been demonstrated to prevent kidney from drug inducted
nephrotoxicity (pareta et al)
Other ingredients like electrolytes, urinary acidifiers and
vitamins( like vitamin A) check dehydration and restore
electrolyte balance and prevent stress, urolithiasis and gout.
