Sea route to Asia​

popular items. Land routes were too long and dangerous.

Prince Henry the Navigator:​
son of Portugal's’ king, started a school to teach navigation and
mapmaking. Sailors, scholars, mapmakers, and shipbuilders worked together to improve sea
travel. He wanted to learn about the world, trade, spread his religion, and gain wealth for
Portugal.
