Appetizer: Daily Grammar Practice

Can you identify words as they
Materials: DGP and pen
Directions: Identify sentence parts including simple and complete subject
(draw a circle around simple and single underline complete), simple and
complete predicates (draw a box around simple, double underline
complete), identify as transitive or intransitive, direct object, indirect
object, predicate nominative, predicate adjective, appositive, or appositive
phrase, prep phrases (adj or adv), object of prep, noun of direct address,
infinitive phrase, object of infinitive, participial phrase, gerund phrase,
and object of gerund.
Sentence: he lay down on a wide bunk that stretched across the end of
the room
Instruction:




Identify phrases first using parenthesis
Identify simple/complete subject of entire sentence
Everything else is complete predicate
Within the complete predicate is another subject and predicate

Materials: Holt text open to pp.79-84, worksheets
Directions: Error analysis of homework due today, then extra practice
with worksheets targeted for more practice in areas you feel you are
week.
Instruction:
 What is the test to determine reflexive and intensive pronouns?
 Demonstrative pronouns used to modify nouns are actually
demonstrative adjectives.
 A relative pronoun introduces what type of subordinate clause?
 Can interrogative pronouns act as adjectives?
 When does one use whom? Who?
 Can indefinite pronouns also be used as adjectives?
 Singular indefinite pronouns are traditionally used with masculine
pronouns when the gender of the antecedent is unknown.
 If the antecedent is plural, then a plural pronoun can refer to it. For
example, Everybody has their chromebooks on their desks.

Instruction: I will assign your station to begin working with the Unit 3
words.

word family words next to the vocab words in your books

VocabWorkshop, and Greek and Latin roots to play the game.

5. Sentence Creation: in your notes:
a. Use the word comply in a complex sentence with an
adjective dependent clause.
b. Use the word myriad as a noun
c. Use the word untethered in a sentence with an
indefinite pronoun
d. Use a synonym of vie in a present tense sentence
e. Use the adverb form of prodigious in a sentence.

Directions: Go to St. Jude Bookmarks on Chrome, pull up Accelerated
Reader, enter your Pearson username, the code is admin.
Instruction: Upon completion of the test, complete the Tuesday activity for
Daily Reading Practice. If you still have time, read for pleasure, or work
on your Response to Literature due October 12.
