United States Regions Research Project
Create a poster, brochure, presentation/slideshow, diorama, or other display that CLEARLY shows all
of the information you found out about one of the regions of the United States
You MUST include:
• a map of the United States and highlight/color your region.
• names of every state - and their capital cities - in your region
• Illustrations or images of physical features, special landmarks, and resources/products
• Illustrations, images and information about famous people from your region
A. Location
Name your region: (Circle One: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and the West.)
List all of the states of your region.
B. Physical Features
Describe your region physically. Describe its landforms. Does it have mountains, rivers, lakes, other
bodies of water, climate, plains, etc.?
C. Natural Resources and Economic Products
What crops are grown? What minerals are mined? Forests? Oil? What is manufactured/produced in
the region? How do people earn money in your region?
D. Human Characteristics/Attractions
What is SPECIAL about the region? Why would people want to visit? Include cities, tourist attractions,
landmarks, parks, buildings, etc.
E. People. List at least three famous people from your region. Tell who they are or why they are
famous.
F. Sources
List any sources (websites, books, magazines, maps, etc.)
