BA English: Concentration in Writing
BA English: Concentration in Journalism
DEPARTMENT DISTINCTIVES
• Transformation of Yourself and Society - The English department believes
that reading and writing produce both individual and cultural transformation.

• Intellectual Rigor and Religious Maturity - Students critically analyze
literature and write creatively in intimate seminars and workshops. Closely
guided by Christian professors, seniors produce a final project: in the writing
concentration, students develop a 45-page manuscript in the genre of their

choices in a digital information age.
• Cultural Diversity and Creativity - The English department offers specialized

BA International Area Studies and Business
DEPARTMENT DISTINCTIVES
• Distinguished Faculty Representing several continents, faculty hold
degrees from top universities in the U.S., Argentina and China. Their
teaching style and Christian worldview engage students in the classroom,
encouraging them to embrace and serve people from other cultures.
The Department celebrates Dr. Francois’ Fulbright Award to Burkina Faso,
Africa where she taught American literature to African students in the 20092010 academic year.
• Connect The identity of a people is inherently linked to their language.
The Language Department’s emphasis on cross-cultural communication
challenges students to not only learn the language, but to develop an
appreciation of the culture of those who speak the language. Students
interact with the Hispanic community in the Philadelphia area by attending
church, teaching ESL, tutoring at Esperanza College of Eastern University
and by participating in mission trips to French and Spanish-speaking
countries where they experience both spiritual and intellectual growth.
