NOISE POLLUTION
Noise pollution or sound pollution is defined as the unwanted
sound dumped into the atmosphere that leads to health
hazardous.
SOURCES OF NOISE POLLUTION
1. Transportation system is the main source of noise
pollution in urban area.
2. Construction of buildings, highways and streets cause a
lot of noise, due to the usage of air compressors,
bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks.
3. Industrial noise is another source of noise pollution.
4. Loudspeakers, plumbing, boilers, generators, air
conditioners, fans, vaccume cleaner add the existing
noise pollution.

pollution.
NOISE LEVEL
Normal noise level of tolerance is 80db.
The noise level below and above makes the nuisance of noise.
EFFECTS OF NOISE POLLUTION
Noise is generally harmful and serious health hazards. it has
many physical, physiological as well as psychological effects
on human beings.
1. High blood pressure, stress related illness, sleep
disruption, hearing loss and productivity loss are the
problems related to noise pollution.
2. It can also cause memory loss, severe depression and
panic attacks.
3. Noise can cause serious damage to wild animals also. it
leads migration of birds which disturbs the ecosystem.
4. The effect of sound pollution results in abandonment on
territory and loss of ability to reproduce.
5. The production capacity and growth of plant is affected
due to high level noise.
CONTROL OF NOISE POLLUTION
1. Planting bushes and trees in and around sound generating
sources is an effective solution for noise pollution.
2. Regular servicing and tuning of automobiles
effectively reduce the sound pollution.

material for the walls, windows and ceilings.
4. Worker should be providing with equipments such as ear
plugs and earmuffs for hearing protection.
