PLANT DESCRIPTIONS
LARGE TOMATOES
GERMAN JOHNSON TOMATO
An heirloom Tomato originally grown in West Virginia. With pinkish-red skin and nearly
seedless meaty, mild flesh, the large, lobed fruits weigh 1 -1 ½ lb. A favorite variety for slicing
or canning. The disease-resistant, indeterminate vines thrive in hot, humid areas.
CHEFS CHOICE ORANGE
Award winning large orange Beefsteak-type Tomato. Low acid, good flavor and texture. Plants
are known to set fruit early in the season and be highly productive.
GREAT WHITE TOMATO
Large, 1-lb giant, creamy white fruit. The flesh is so good and deliciously fruity, it reminds one
of a mixture of fresh-cut pineapple, melon and guava. One of our favorite fresh-eating
tomatoes! Fruit are smoother than most large beefsteak types, and yields can be very high.
CARBON TOMATO
This heirloom variety has won taste awards from coast to coast in the last few years. The fruit
are smooth, large, and beautiful. They are a uniquely dark and pretty. A rich complex flavor.
BIG RAINBOW TOMATO
Stunning shades of gold to scarlet and everything in between make this heirloom variety truly
stand out. Giant fruits, up to 2 pounds, have a rich balance of acids and sugars that gives it a
true old-fashioned tomato taste. Resistant to foliar disease and cracks.
BLACK KRIM TOMATO
Found in Krim, Russia in 1990 by Lars Olov Rosenstrom of Bromma, Sweden. Beefsteak fruits
are a unique combination of violet-brown and purple-red—they turn almost black with
sufficient sunlight and heat. Excellent full flavor.
CHEROKEE- GREEN TOMATO
Medium-sized, 8+ oz., heirloom fruits mature from green with a hint of orange to orange with
some green striping. Lots of bold, acidic, complex tomato flavor.

BIG BEEF TOMATO
Produces large 10-12oz fruit on a sturdy indeterminate plant. BIG AND RED.
BRANDYWINE TOMATO
Brandywine's luscious flavor is "very rich, loud, and distinctively spicy." The large fruits, often
over 1 lb, have a deep pink skin and smooth red flesh. The med-tall, potato-leaf plant is best
staked/caged.
PRUDENS PURPLE TOMATO
Comparable in every way to the favorite Brandywine. It has even ranked higher at times in my
taste trials. Great for hot day and cool night climate. Large potato leaf vine produces lots of 1lb., slightly flattened, pretty, blemish-free, purple-pink fruits with few tomato seeds and
excellent flavor.
ROMA TOMATOES
MARIANA ROMA TOMATO
Beautifully red inside and out, this Roma-type Tomato is extremely uniform in shape with firm,
thick walls and very good flavor. Plants known to be shorter than other Tomato plants, have a
good fruit set and be disease-resistant.
SAN MARZANO Pozzano ROMA TOMATO
A variety of Plum Tomatoes considered by many chefs to be the best sauce tomatoes in the
world. Tall vines produce heavy yields of long, cylindrical fruit. Delicious, balanced acidic flavor
and meaty flesh. Fruits avg. 5-6 oz. The first account of the San Marzano seed was in 1770, as a
gift from the Kingdom of Peru to the Kingdom of Naples.
CHERRY TOMATOES
SUNCHERRY TOMATO
Thin-skinned golden Cherry Tomato with super-sugary sweetness. Tall, vigorous plants produce
are high-yielding, especially early in the season.
YELLOW MINI CHERRY TOMATO
Bright yellow Cherry Tomato with excellent sweet juicy flavor. Fruit is known to resist splitting
caused by inconsistent watering.
SUNCHOCOLA BROWN CHERRY TOMATO
Exceptionally sweet and flavorful, chocolate colored cherry tomatoes. The large, indeterminate
plants set their fruit in clusters like grape tomatoes do. The large cherry size fruit measure
1.25" in diameter and have a taste and flavor that will rival many heirloom varieties.

JULIET RED GRAPE TOMATO
Red, 1 oz. fruit are produced in clusters on vigorous indeterminate vines. The fruit have an
unusual elongated shape, sweet flavor and an attractive glossy skin.
SUNGOLD CHERRY TOMATO
Exceptionally sweet, bright tangerine-orange cherry tomatoes leave customers begging for
more. Vigorous plants start yielding early and bear right through the season. Tendency to split
precludes shipping, making these an exclusively fresh-market treat.
BEANS
GREEN BEAN- BUSH
Large upright bush type plants produce multiple beans high on the plant. The large beautiful
dark green pods have a wonderful flavor.
YELLOW WAX BEAN (ROCDOR)
Has 6 ½ " straight, long, slender pods that have a deep yellow color. Upright plants that are
produce fruit early and abundantly.
ONION
CANDY ONION
A small yellow onion with a sweet mild flavor. Easy to grow and can be enjoyed through winter
if the bulbs are properly cured and stored in a cool, dry area.
PEPPERS
ANAHEIM CHILI G76 PEPPER
Medium-thick fleshed Peppers have delicious mild heat and richly satisfying chili flavor. Chilies
are uniform, 8" long, and ripen from bright green to red at full maturity. A Southwest favorite.
CUPID MINI RED BELL PEPPER
Smooth fruits that are particularly sweet when ripe. Early season, slightly pointed 2" fruits.
Plants are large and well-branched, which protects the fruits from sunscald.
KARISMA RED BELL PEPPER
Yields large fruit that have thick walls, an attractive glossy green color and smooth appearance.
Strong, disease-resistant plants continuously set fruit well into the season. The plants offer
excellent leaf cover to protect the fruit from sunburn. Fruits ripen to red.

SEQUOIA POBLANO PEPPER
Tall upright plants produce good yields of large, dark green Peppers that measure 6.75" long
and will ripen to deep red (can be eaten green or red). Two lobed with classic Ancho shape.
Peppers are mild to hot pungency, are a uniform size and shape.
LUNCH BOX PEPPERS- ORANGE AND YELLOW (MINI SWEET)Lunchbox snack peppers are remarkably sweet and flavorful. They are delicious sautéed, as an
addition to salads and, of course, perfect for a healthy snack. All three varieties have tall strong
plants that yield well for snack type peppers.
EL JEFE JALEPENO (HOT)
Has larger than average fruit with narrower shoulders and less checking (cracks in skin) than
other varieties. Tall, high-yielding disease resistant plants.
SHISHITO PEPPER
Plant has a spreading habit and produces prolifically. Good for garden, greenhouse, and open
field growing. This sweet, thin-walled glossy green pepper is popular in Japan. These mild
peppers are 3” – 4” long. A popular way to eat them is friend with salt and lemon.
ANTOI PEPPER
Smooth, 4" long by 2" wide, tapered, pointed fruits are pale yellow and ripen red. The upright
plants have good branch strength and yield early and heavily. In late 1991, these heirloom
seeds were first brought to the U.S from Romania. NOTE: Romanians fry these in a hot skillet
to experience the sweet, full flavor.
EGGPLANT
CLASSIC EGGPLANT
Glossy black fruit in the classic bell shape that grows 5-6 inches long and is 3-4 inches in
diameter. Green calyx.
JAPANESE EGGPLANT
Glossy and very dark purple fruit with a purple calyx. Fruits are 4-5 inches long and 1-2 inches
in diameter. Plants typically fruit early.

GRETEL EGGPLANT
White-skinned fruit is tender and not bitter. These plants are compact and fruits can be
harvested beginning when they are 3 to 4 inches long. Fruits have a green calyx.
HANSEL EGGPLANT
Tender dark purple, non-bitter fruit are perfect for grilling or slicing. Compact plants (25"-36"),
produce fruit in clusters for easy harvesting. Fruits have a green calyx.
SQUASH & CUCUMBERS
MULTI PIK STRAIGHT NECK SQUASH
The Multipik squash plant is high yielding and it produces excellent quality fruit. Squash have a
straight neck, smooth skin and a bright yellow color. Squash can be either picked early as a mini
or let to grow.
ZUCCHINI- GREEN
Plants produce early fruits that are shiny dark green. Plants are open and easy to harvest and
have intermediate resistance to several common diseases.
CUCUMBER- SLICING
Yields an early crop of very dark green, attractive slicing cucumbers. Produces 7" blocky
shaped fruit that are smooth, straight and cylindrical.
PICKLING CUCUMBER- Jackson
Blocky pickling cucumbers with white spines. Fruits are 3-5" long. Plants are dark green and
disease-resistant.
YELLOW SUNBURST SQUASH
Attractive, 2-3” diameter flat, disk-shaped yellow squash. Can be picked while still tiny, with the
blossom still attached, or teacup-size. Vigorous plants with very good yields of butter-yellow
scalloped fruits with bright-green blossom ends.
MELONS
AMBROSIA MELON
Vines yield bumper crops and are mildew-resistant. Juicy, luscious, extra-sweet taste with a
nectarous aroma. The thick, firm, flesh is delicious right down to the rind. The 6" melons
average 5 lb. each.

PETITE GRIS DE RENNES
Dense 2 lb. fruit have orange flesh that is superbly sweet, flavorful and perfumed with a greygreen rind. Popular in France but rare in the USA.
PASSPORT MELON
Passport is a high quality Galia type melon that is early to mature. Large, early, 5 to 7 lb. fruit
have high sugar levels and delicious flavor. The fruit slips from its stem when ripe and the rind
turns from green to yellow. Ripens early in the season.
SUGAR CUBE CANTALOUPE
Coarsely netted, round, 2 pound fruit have juicy, sweet deep orange flesh. Personal-sized treat.
Sugar Cube plant is consistently reliable and has unprecedented disease resistance.
LITTLE BOX FLOWER MINI WATERMELON
Small (5 1/2" round average) fruit with bright stripe pattern on shell and dark pink flesh that is
sweet and crisp. Has high sugar content. High-yeilding plants set an average of 3-5 fruits per
plant.
HERBS
DILL- Fernleaf
Aromatic seeds and foliage. Yellow-green flowers in spring and fall. Contact plants grow 18-24"
tall. Warm season annual but loves mild weather.
OREGANO
Oregano is a perennial that is grown in full sun. The plant will grow to a height of 12-24 inches.
It is used widely in Italian dishes, tomato sauce, pizza, fish and salad dressing.
BASIL
 BASIL- Italian Large Leaf
Large plant with medium-dark green leaves up to 4" long. Sweet clove-like scent and
taste.
 THAI BASIL- Sweet
Shiny, thick green leaves are up to 3" long. Brilliant magenta flower clusters and
contrasting foliage are fantastic for ornamental use.
 MINI BASIL-Piston
Petite mounding plants have an attractive rounded shape. Perfect for small pots, in
mixed containers, or in the front of the garden.
 PURPLE RUFFLE BASIL- Opal
Large, purple ruffled 3” long leaves. Good for garnishes or can be used as an ornamental
garden plant. Small percentage of plants are green.

ITALIAN PARSLEY
Leaves have pronounced fresh flavor. Used in salad dressings, poultry, soups, pesto and
garnish.
THYME
 THYME- French
Small pointed leaves. Low-growing plant. Often used in poultry seasoning.
 LEMON THYME
Upright plants with citrus flavor and aroma. Bright green leaves are suitable for culinary
use and also make attractive ornamental bedding or container plants.
CHIVES- Purly
Versatile, medium-sized leaves with an onion-like flavor. Leaves have an upright habit and
straight leaf. Plants enjoy sun to part-shade.
CHERVIL
Mild, sweet anise flavor. Intricate green leaves and stems. Used to flavor egg, potato, fish, and
poultry dishes. Also used in salads.
MINT
Mints are aromatic, wide-spreading plants. Leave colors range from dark green and gray-green
to purple, blue. The flowers are white to purple and are used to garnish salads, soups,
desserts, and drinks with a minty flavor. Plant grows best in wet environments and moist soils.
Mint is used as a garnish and is good in iced-tea or mojitos.
 MINT- Spearmint (plant tags marked “MINT”)
Common mint/ Light green small wide leaves. For culinary and medicinal use.
 MINT- Peppermint
More slender, medium green leaves. Excellent for culinary or medicinal use.
WINTER SAVORY
Pungent, biting flavor. Leaves may be harvested for use when plants reach 6". Harvest the
flowers as they begin blooming. In the fall, entire plants may be harvested by cutting the plants
near the ground. Dry them out of direct sunlight, then strip the leaves from the woody stems.
LOVAGE
Young leaves taste like celery with a hint of anise. Used to flavor potatoes, rice, soups, and
poultry dishes. Roots and young stems are also edible. Young stems can be cut, peeled, and
used in salads. Stems are smooth, hollow and thick. If allowed to flower, attracts beneficial
insects such as bees, hoverflies, lacewing larva, lady beetles, parasitic wasps, and tachinid flies.

CILANTRO
Full sun plant that grows from 12-18 inches tall. Cilantro is a fragrant, citrusy herb sparks up
salsa, guacamole, sauces and seafood. The seeds of this plant are Coriander, which is also used
in cooking.
SAGE
Hardy plant that can grow 24” tall. Leaves have a camphor fragrance and delicate blue flowers.
Used for cooking, landscaping and healing.
ROSEMARY
Grows in full sun and reaches a height of 24-36 inches. Rosemary is used to flavor holiday
turkeys, meats, other poultry and potatoes. It makes a good addition to potpourri.
TARRAGON-French
Classic culinary herb with a anise-like flavor. This herb, only propagated from cuttings, can be
used fresh or dry. Grows best in light soil with full sun.
GREENS
BABY MIXED LETTUCE
Lettuce types include:
 Red Oak
 Green Romaine
 Lolo Rosa
 Speckled
RAINBOW SWISS CHARD
As beautiful in your garden as it is in your plate, the Rainbow Mix Swiss Chards are both
decorative and delicious. Pick young for salads or fully grown for their stalks, this hard to find
variety is fun to grow and eat. Parcial shade this time of year.
ARUGULA
Fast-growing cool-season salad green. Adds a tangy, peppery or mustard-like flavor to salads.
TOSCANO KALE
Lacinato or "dinosaur" type. Unique leaf type: extra-dark green, non-curled but heavily
blistered (savoyed). Tolerant to hot and cold weather.

FLOWERS
NASTURTIUM
2" blooms in red, pink, orange, and yellow are held above light green foliage. A mix of single
and double blooms. Cool weather plant. Prefers indirect light/partial shade. Flowers and leaves
are edible.
BACHELOR BUTTON
Upright plants that produce abundant 1-2 inch blooms. Prefers cool temperatures and can
tolerate some shade. Tolerates poor soil of medium fertility. Great edible flower for decorating
desserts and salads. Plant height is 24-30".
CALENDULA
Golden yellow and orange flowers are 2-3 inches in diameter with black or green centers. Easy
to grow and reach a height of 18-24 inches.
