REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF HEART
DISEASE AND STROKE IN THE
POPULATION OF SOUTH AFRICA BY
PROVIDING EDUCATION AND
SUPPORTING RESEARCH
HISTORY OF THE HEART & STROKE FOUNDATION
♥ The HSFSA is 28 years old.
♥ Government requested the formulation as a result of work
done by the M.R.C.
♥ We do not get funding from Government.
♥ Initially HSFSA was involved in Health Promotion and
Education.
♥ Heart Mark Food Approved Programme is 21 years old.
♥ Heart Mark Restaurant Programme is 12 years old.
HEART & STROKE FOUNDATION TODAY
♥ The HFSA took over the Stroke Society and is now known as the Heart & Stroke
Foundation SA.
♥ Today the HSFSA is involved in:
- Health Promotion & Education,
- Support of CVD Patients
- Fundraising
♥ HSFSA promotes the Heart Mark Food Approval Programme, together with the
Restaurant Programme.
♥ In order to sustain these activities HSFSA employs staff:
- Public Relations, Fundraising & Administrative Staff
- Dieticians
- Nurses
- ChildCare Workers
- Red Heart Reps
