State Standards
• 4.2 Explain how the circulatory system (heart, arteries,
veins, capillaries, red blood cells) transports nutrients and
oxygen to cells and removes cell wastes. Describe how the
kidneys and the liver are closely associated with the
circulatory system as they perform the excretory function
of removing waste from the blood. Recognize that kidneys
remove nitrogenous wastes, and the liver removes many
toxic compounds from blood.
• 4.3 Explain how the respiratory system (nose, pharynx,
larynx, trachea, lungs, alveoli) provides exchange of oxygen
and carbon dioxide.
Circulation
State Obj: Explain how the
circulatory system (heart, arteries,
veins, capillaries, red blood cells)
transports nutrients and oxygen to
cells and removes cell wastes.
Process of Circulation
• Label the picture with the following words: left
Ventricle, right Ventricle, left Atrium, right
atrium, aorta, superior and inferior vena cava
• Use the picture provided by Mr. Moore and list
the path that a blood cell takes as it leaves left
Atrium and returns to the right atrium.
– This video will help you chart this

• What are the major components of a blood?
• What is the major chemicals in your blood cell?
Capillary Transport
• Use the picture provided by Mr. Moore and color
the picture of the capillary's. Watch the URL
provided to learn about the exchange of materials
at the capillary's.

Oxygen Exchange
• 4.3 Explain how the respiratory
system (nose, pharynx, larynx,
trachea, lungs, alveoli) provides
exchange of oxygen and carbon
dioxide.
Respiratory Anatomy
• Label the picture of the respiratory system with the
following words: Larynx, Trachea, Lung, Avioli,
Bronchial tubes,
– Put this picture I your note book.
• Use this URL to learn about how air is brought into your
lungs and spread around the body. Watch the video
and write a description of the path an air molecule
travels when moving around the body.
