Why I used Dynamic Geometry
1. Ability to manipulate a figure to show different variations, but
still remains the same shape
1. Using a regular whiteboard, it would take several
constructions to prove the same point
2. This lesson can be interactive and the students can also use the
software, and make their own conjectures
2. The original lesson involved Venn Diagrams and not
actually constructing the figures
Major Changes I Made
1. I used Geogebra instead of a posterboard and Venn
Diagrams
2. I allowed the students to actually construct the figures
with me instead of just classifying them by
characteristics
3. I focused on the characteristics of each quadrilateral
when constructing the quadrilaterals
My Objectives
1. Teach the students the characteristics of quadrilaterals
2. Show that some characteristics are the same in different
figures
1. Example:
1. A square is ALWAYS a parallelogram because it
has opposite congruent angles, and opposite
sides parallel, but a parallelogram is
SOMETIMES a square.
3. Allow the students to make their own conjectures about the
relationships between the quadrilaterals
