ANCIENT GREEK ARCHITECTURE By: Dalal Al-Saeed & Nibal Al-Fulaij Sec.5 Grade7 INTRODUCTION: In this presentation we will talk to you about ancient Greece architecture. we will also talk to you about it’s influence to modern day designs. They used stones instead of bricks and wood in public buildings. They used columns and beams for there buildings. They used columns to hold the weight of the building. They used three different designs for there columns. . There architecture was copied by the Romans then the Victorians GREEK COLUMNS Doric columns = thick & strong (non decorative) ionic columns = slim & light (decorative on the top) Fancy Corinthian style = delicate & slender (carvings of leaves or flowers on the top) DORIC DESIGN IONIC DESIGNS FANCY CORINTHIAN DESIGN THE PARTHENON from 498-480 b.c building the Parthenon It was a temple built for the goddess Athena. It was one of the first temples built completely out of marble. Greek life was religious they had to make there temples very beautiful. Built on the acropolis. PARTHENON PICTURES INFLUENCE ON MODERN DAY LIFE It influenced mostly the western world In the 19th century.
