SEPTEMBER 2016!
The Young Australian Broadway Chorus (YABC) delivers
an energetic punch to events with their dynamic
performances.
These young, talented singers and dancers are guaranteed
crowd-pleasers, entertaining audiences of all ages with
their unique renditions of Australian rock songs. Their high
energy, choreographed dance numbers fuse jazz and hiphop with rock vocals.
The Young Australian Broadway Chorus has performed
across Australia and Internationally at Universal Studios,
Disneyland (Paris & California), Disney World, The Lincoln
Centre (NYC), Smithsonian Institute, Soho Theatre (London),York
Theatre (NYC), Starlight Foundation’s Starball,The Arts Centre
Melbourne, Malthouse Theatre, Chapel Off Chapel Theatre, Relay
for Life, National Theatre, Odeon Theatre Adelaide, Fun4Kids
Festival and many more...
Following our successful 2015 tour,

The Young Australian
Broadway Chorus
is fun and fresh for
youth and family events
Songs include: Australian rock (AC/DC - It’s A Long
Way to the Top, The Easybeats - Friday On My Mind, John
Farnham - You’re the Voice and more), the American
National Anthem (if requested)
Show length: Full show, 30 minutes. Tailored segments of
between 90 seconds to 20 minutes available.
Costumes: Designed especially for this production
reflect the energy and fun of the show
Number of performers: 45-50

About the YABC Performers
The Young Australian Broadway Chorus touring troupe is comprised of performers ranging in age from 12 to 21. They are
all talented singers, dancers and actors who are currently practicing artists in our performing and advanced performing
level classes. They have performed extensively with the organisation in our musical theatre performances in Melbourne and
in our national Australian tours. Many are also active entertainment industry professionals appearing in feature films and
television shows.
About the YABC’s Key Creative Staff
Robert Coates - Director of Production
Robert Coates began working for Stage School Australia in 1995. His directorial credits include Rags, Joseph’s Dreamcoat, Oliver!, Man
of La Mancha, Star-Cross’d Lovers, Godspell and all of the Young Australian Broadway Chorus Gala Concerts at the National Theatre.
Other productions include Back to Bacchus (Tours of Europe ‘97 and USA ‘99, World Tour 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008) , What a
Circus (Adelaide Fringe ‘98), Once On This Island (Adelaide Fringe 2010), Spring Awakening (National Theatre 2010), Conference of
the Birds and Seussical TYA (Adelaide Fringe 2013), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Malthouse & Adelaide Fringe
2014)., and Conference of the Birds (remount) and Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2014). Robert has directed the
world premiere of Devil’s Snuffbox, the Victorian premiere of The World Goes Round (Victorian Music Theatre Guild nomination - Best
Director) The Wizard of Oz, Big River and Guys & Dolls. In 2006 he directed the world premiere season of the Bryant/Frank musical, The
Silver Donkey which also toured the USA.
Jacqui Green - Head of Dance
Jacqui Green is one of Australia’s leading choreographers, adjudicators, dancers and dance teachers. As a choreographer and dancer,
Jacqui’s credits include The Don Lane Show, The Ronnie Corbett Show, The Midday Show, The AFI Awards and The Logie Awards.
Jacqui played the leading role of Cassie in the 1990s national tour of A Chorus Line (Mo Award Nomination), and has also featured in
productions of Funny Girl, The Sound of Music, Hello Dolly and Cabaret. Directorial credits include a tour of Asia and New Zealand as
the resident director of Joseph’s Dreamcoat for the Really Useful Group. She has toured internationally with numerous Stage School
Productions, directed and choreographed Adelaide Fringe Festival and Disney Paris Productions. Most recently Jacqui directed and
choreographed YABC’s A Very Gleeful Tribute Show, Seussical TYA and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for the Malthouse
and Adelaide Fringe Festival (2013) and Disney’s Alice in Wonderland for the Melbourne Fringe Festival (2014).
Andy Coates - Head of Music
Andy is trained in voice, piano, trumpet and drums. As a musical director Andy’s credits include Joseph’s Dreamcoat (Malthouse and
Adelaide Fringe 2014), Guys & Dolls Jr, Seussical (Malthouse and Adelaide Fringe 2013), Wizard of Oz, Barnum and Pippin. For over eight
years Andy taught performing arts in primary schools; running a variety of choirs and ensembles and teaching music, drama, voice and
circus. As well as performing in musical productions such as Assassins and Company, Andy has spent the last nine years performing with
Melbourne swing act, Frankie Wants Out and is recognised as one of the best composers of neo-swing in Australia.
