
Teachers may choose lessons off the map or create their own lessons provided the lessons follow a similar format, involve multiple
documents on an important historical topic, and require essay writing using District Scoring Rubric.
Teachers are required to keep copies of their students’ DBQ essays to bring to District level table readings. It is suggested that grade level
teams select and implement the same DBQs to facilitate collaboration and establish consistency within schools on reading and writing.
The DBQ Map, including the number of DBQs required, will be revised periodically to incorporate new lessons and reflect advances in
student learning.
The mapped lessons are reserved for the indicated grade level and may not be used by another grade level. Teachers are free to use
unmapped DBQ lessons and documents.
Lessons with (*) next to the title have supplemental materials to accompany the lesson. These teacher created resources will be available at
the Cobb County Social Studies Network housed in Edmodo as well as on PICASSO.
Teachers are encouraged to use Edmodo to collaborate and share resources across the District.
Teachers will be alerted to any updates or changes to the 2011-2012 Cobb DBQ Map.
