Established in 2008, ISS-Gemadept Co. Ltd is a joint venture between ISS and Gemadept, one of the leading
companies in Vietnam’s shipping industry. By combining Gemadept’s local expertise and ISS’ international

9 ISS-Gemadept offers a wide range of ship and port
agency and logistics services at all of Vietnam's
ports and terminals. At present, ISS-Gemadept has
its own offices in Ho Chi Minh and Vung Tau and
we are in the process of expanding our network.
For other Vietnamese ports we work throught the
Gemadept network.
9 ISS-Gemadept is one of the strongest players in
providing husbandry services such as Cash to
Master, spare parts delivery, crew change and visa
facilities.
9 We offer expert, practical and cost-effective
solutions and consultancy advice to our clients to
avoid issues related to shortage of cargo, which
has been a longstanding problem in some of
Vietnam’s ports.

effectively meet the needs of naval, research and

9 How do we secure any important port
information we might need?
ISS-Gemadept can provide details of all Vietnamese
ports/offshore terminals. We issue bi-weekly reports to
customers on request, including the status of the main
ports, weather forecasts and new business opportunities.
9 Are there any major port development projects under way in Vietnam?
Cai Mep International Terminal provides a much-needed deep water container facility. ISS-Gemadept is fully
staffed and equipped to handle all liner and port agency matters at Cai Mep.
9 Are there freight taxes for import/export cargo?
A 2% freight tax is payable on ocean freight for export cargo. There is no freight tax for imports.
9 Can ISS-Gemadept deliver Cash to Master in US dollars or euros?
Yes, ISS-Gemadept provides speedy and efficient CTM services with reasonable handling fees. CTM is
delivered one working day from receipt of the funds.
9 Can ISS-Gemadept arrange crew changes and spare parts delivery?
We are one of the strongest players in the market in this regard. We ensure smooth arrangements for crew
changes and spare parts delivery at all ports and offshore terminals in Vietnam.
9 What about inland logistics services for cargo?
ISS-Gemadept handles all kinds of inland logistics requirements for cargo, including project cargo. We have
developed a range of haulage and logistics solutions for our customers, adding direct value to them by way of
an agile and effective supply chain..
9 Can we obtain a visa on arrival at the airport?
Local laws in Vietnam generally do not permit VOA as applied by the individual. However, ISS-Gemadept can
arrange visas for crew and visitors on arrival. The process takes one or two working days from receiving full
personal details of crew or visitors.
9 How much notice does ISS-Gemadept require for port calls and service requirements?
For safety and efficiency reasons, we prefer to receive requests one week in advance.
9 Can ISS-Gemadept handle medical port calls?
Yes, and as well as transferring patients to local hospitals for treatment, we work with all relevant parties to escort
patients to a preferred overseas hospital. We can also arrange Air Ambulance Services for emergency cases.
9 Is there a location in Vietnam for vessel lay-up?
Vessel lay-up can be arranged in Van Phong Bay, in Khanh Hoa province (central Vietnam). ISS-Gemadept
will liaise with relevant parties on your behalf.
9 What actions are taken to avoid shortage of cargo issues during the discharge of bulk cargo?
Cargo shortage, especially for agribulks, has been a longstanding issue in Vietnam. However, the risk of
ship’s arrest can be minimized. The Owner should carry out a draught survey at the loading port to compare
this with the discharge figure, preferably using the same surveyor at both ends, and appoint the Owner’s P&I
Club representative to supervise initial/final draught surveys and check daily discharge figures. ISS-Gemadept
will keep the Owner/Master informed of all necessary documents for draught survey on arrival, monitor the
daily discharge figure, alert the Owner/Master of any discrepancy, attend on board during the draught survey,
and assist in resolving any issues.
9 Are there any actions to prevent shortage of cargo during loading of bagged rice?
Cargo should be packed and loaded to barge under surveyor supervision, each barge giving a receipt of
cargo showing number of bags. Once the barge is alongside the ship, a loading and tally procedure is
applied both shipside and shoreside. Upon completion of each barge, both sides will countersign tally sheets
and certify loading figure on board.
