Course Objectives:
1. Study points, lines, planes, and angles
2. Verify algebraic and geometric conjectures using informal and formal proofs
3. Write proofs involving segment and angle theorems
4. Use properties of triangles to analyze real-world situations
5. Solve problems using the geometric mean, the Pythagorean Theorem, and its converse
6. Use trigonometric ratios to solve right triangle problems
7. Study and apply reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations
8. Calculate measures in two and three dimensions (area, surface area, and volume)

Classroom Expectations:
 Prompt – Arrive to class on time. If you need to use the restroom or get a drink, please check into class before the
tardy bell. When the bell rings, sit in your assigned seat and begin working on the bell ringer. You will be marked
tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings.
 Prepared – Arrive to class with all of the items you will need for class. This includes your completed homework
assignments, book, paper, pencil and pen.
 Productive – Use the time you have in class wisely. There will be ample work time for homework each day.
 Polite – Respect yourself, your peers, your teacher, and your classroom.
 Patient – Be patient in this class. Ask for help whenever you need it and don’t get discouraged. We will get through
the material together!
Discipline:
All students are expected to follow the student handbook. Discipline issues will be enforced according to the handbook
when necessary. The policies of the student handbook are not all inclusive and are subject to change.
Things to Know:
 Students need to complete all work in pencil.
 Assignments will be self-graded in pen each day.
 Students are expected to show all work/steps for each assigned problem.
 Makeup work is the responsibility of the student. If you miss class please make arrangements with the teacher to
receive the assignment. Students will have the same number of days to complete the assignment as the number
of consecutive days missed.
 If a student knows he or she will be absent in advanced they need to make arrangements to receive the assignment
before the absence.
 Late work will be accepted for partial points.
 Electronic devices must be set to silent during class. They need to remain put away or face down on the desk. If a
phone rings during class, or if a student is using any device without teacher permission, the student will be asked
to surrender the phone.
 Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated. Any act of cheating or plagiarism will result in an automatic zero for
all students involved and may result in further disciplinary action due to school policy.
 Food and drinks (other than water) are not allowed in the classroom. Water must be in a clear, transparent bottle.
