WHAT IS SCHIZOPHRENIA?
Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe disease
that has affected people throughout history.
About 1% of Americans have this disease. This
disease makes people that have it interpret
reality abnormally. People that have it, may
think that someone is controlling their thoughts,
reading their mind, or planning to hurt them in
any way. The most affected ages are from
14-60+ years old. The cause may be genetics
or the environment, however it is not proved.
This is a photo I found of two pairs of identical
twins, one with Schizophrenia and one without
Schizophrenia.

TREATMENTS
Treatments may be lifelong. There are lifestyle and therapies. There are also some
specialists. There are some psychiatrists, Primary Care Providers (PCP), and clinical
Psychologists.
Lifestyle- Psycoeducation
Therapies- Support group, group psychotherapy, behavior therapy, family therapy,
rehabilitation, and/or cognitive therapy
Specialists-Psychiatrists- treats mental disorders
-Primary Care Provider (PCP)- Prevents, Diagnosis, and/or treats diseases
-Clinical Psychologist- Treats Psychological disorders
PRESCRIPTION TREATMENT
There are many prescription treatments, some may be taken by mouth, injection, or both.

WHO IS AFFECTED BY SCHIZOPHRENIA
Many people are affected by Schizophrenia even if
they don’t have it. People are affected by
schizophrenia if they don’t have the disease
because, people who have the disease may need a
lot of help. Someone with the disease may not be
able to keep a steady job, they may not be able to
care for themselves, and have to rely on others for
what they need.
Schizophrenia is not
that common, but it
is VERY serious.
