Statewide access to care
In addition to inpatient services at UC Davis
Children’s Hospital, our specialists provide clinical services at other local community hospitals.
Specialized
clinical programs
UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the only
pediatric HIV provider in Sacramento County.
Our children’s HIV clinic is recognized as a
provider of diagnostic, therapeutic and support
services for infants and children with or at risk
of HIV infection or AIDS. Our young adult HIV
clinic helps patients transition to the adult clinic
for their care.
Through UC Davis’ pediatric telemedicine
program – the first of its kind in the United
States – we also offer real-time consultation
and evaluation services. Our infectious disease
telemedicine clinic offers care for non-acute
cases, such as MRSA colonization and disease,
osteomyelitis, rheumatic fever, HIV
and tuberculosis, allowing the patient
and their family to receive care close to home.

Pediatric Infectious
Disease Services
We also participate in the Ryan White
Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act
Program, established by the federal government
to help provide care for people with HIV
or AIDS who lack adequate health insurance.
We are part of California’s Severe Combined
Immunodeficiency (SCID) newborn screening
pilot program, where we perform the initial
evaluation of infants who test positive for SCID,
a genetic disorder that causes an extremely
weak immune system.
