Famous expedition to Punt From Dynasty to Dynasty 1.3 Main time periods called Kingdoms (Old, Middle, New) 2.Menes united Lower (Red) and Upper (White) Egypt and built the city Memphis All Powerful Pharaohs 1.Absolute power over their people 2.Religious leader Two Thousand Years of Power 1.Old Kingdom- able rulers, well run system of government, kept peace and trade with Nubia 2.Middle Kingdom- restored order & reunited Egypt, irrigation projects, canal between Nile and Red Sea, art and literature flourished, were eventually invaded. 3.New Kingdom- Huge armies of foot soldiers, mounted warriors and war chariots, bronze swords & body armor, Hatshepsut is regent, Thutmose III conquers to the Euphrates river, Ramses II expanded territory. A Powerful Queen, A Great Pharaoh 1.Hatshepsut is regent for Thutmose III 2.She proclaimed herself pharaoh- ruled for 22 years 3.Thutmose III- greatest pharaoh of New Kingdom 4.He conquered to the Euphrates River and showed mercy to defeated people 5.He loved to study plants 6.New Kingdom fell to Alexander the Great in 332B.C.E and then by the Romans Summary Egypt’s pharaohs were considered god-kings and ruled with absolute power. Hatshepsut was a famous female ruler and regent for the greatest pharaoh of the New Kingdom, Thutmose III. There were three main time periods called the Old, Middle and New Kingdoms.
