Name___________________ AUDITORY Directions: For the next two days, you will be working in a group that is specific to your learning style. Day 1, you are to work on topics “Reflection Symmetry” and “Rotation Symmetry.” Day 2, you are to work on “Translation Symmetry” and complete a mini quiz assessing your understanding of the three symmetry types. Complete the activities in the order they are presented. There is a box to check as you complete them to keep track of your progress. Any paper materials need to be stapled as learning evidence to this sheet of paper at the end of Day 2 (Wednesday). Any task done digitally can be sent to Ms. Webber or Ms. Rohrlack via email or google drive. REFLECTION SYMMETRY ☐Activity #1: Go to the following website and watch the video. http://www.linkslearning.k12.wa.us/Kids/1_Math/2_illustrated_Lessons/4_Line_Symmetry/ind ex.html As you watch the video, you should be able to take important notes in your notebook. Please label them “Reflection Symmetry.” ☐Activity #2: Follow the directions on the handout to mirror the two aliens and various shapes. ☐Activity #3: Visit the website www.TeacherLED.com (scroll down a bit) and click on Symmetry Counters. There will be several counters pictured and a dashed line to represent the line of symmetry. Your task is to reflect them correctly. You can click on check to see if you were correct, new to get a different picture, and V/H/D to change the direction of the line of symmetry. Practice and try as many pictures as you can until time is up. ROTATION SYMMETRY ☐Activity #1: Go to the following website and read the introduction. Then, click on the arrow to play the embedded videos. http://www.onlinemathlearning.com/rotational-symmetry.html Be sure to label your notes “Rotation Symmetry” and to include important details. ☐Activity #2: Follow the directions provided to rotate the shapes given specific points. Please let us know if you need any tools to help you. ☐Activity #3: Go to the following site: http://www.free-training-tutorial.com/math-games/symmetryrotational.html?1& and read the brief introduction to see “Rotation Symmetry” in action.
