Sacrifices of the Heart
For family, it’s never too late to start over.
Broken family ties are given one last chance to heal when a father and his two children
finally agree to face the past with a trust and forgiveness they never shared before.
Thirty-six-year-old Kate Weston (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Melissa Gilbert,
Little House on the Prarie) is a tough attorney with a thriving practice in New York City.
Consumed with a career that allows for only the most tenuous of personal commitments,
she receives a call from her estranged brother, Ryan (Cyril O'Reilly, Without a Trace).
Their father, Thane, is showing signs of an increasingly debilitating and disorienting
illness. What Ryan needs is for his sister to return to the family farm in New Hampshire
and convince their stubborn father that he needs help. But the reunion is awkward and
only stirs bitter memories of a family tragedy that haunts Kate to this day.
Her mother committed suicide when she was only seven, and Kate has never come to
terms with it—or with her father whom she always held responsible. Until she speaks to
the family’s physician who enlightens Kate on matters of her mother’s personal history
and on the Alzheimer’s that’s gradually robbing Thane of his memories. As professional
pressures build, Kate suddenly discovers the importance of reconciliation in a season of
renewal that could finally and truly bring the Weston family together.
A film of healing, hope, and second chances, Sacrifices of the Heart will resonate with
anyone who ever faced an obstacle with the kind of courage that only comes from being a
family.
