Cameron starts ticket sales for ‘Kiss Me, Kate’
Tickets went on sale this week for Kiss Me, Kate, the next production in Cameron University’s 2003-2004 theatrical
season.
The Cole Porter play will be presented March 4-7 in the University Theatre in Lawton.
Based on the book by Bella and Samuel Spewak, the play-within-a-play revolves around an egotistical performer,
Fred Graham, who is reunited with ex-wife Lilli in the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in Shakespeare’s Taming of
the Shrew. Throughout the show they fight, but obviously still love each other. Meanwhile, due to mistaken identity,
gangsters harass Fred while two former cabaret performers cast in the play struggle to keep their romance alive.
“Kiss Me, Kate is merry, melodious and sophisticated,” said Scott Richard Klein, chair of Cameron’s Department of
Music & Theatre Arts. “The score is one of the greatest, featuring such superb numbers as ‘Another Opening,
Another Show,’ ‘Wonderbar,’ ‘Always True to You (In my Fashion)’ and ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare.’”
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. March 4-6, with a 2 p.m. matinee for March 7’s final performance.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, senior citizens and the members of the military. Cameron students
will be admitted free with valid university ID. To reserve tickets, call 580/581-2478.
