Mla Greek Mythology Research Poster Project www.cnusd.k12.ca.us/cms/lib/.../17675/MlaGreekResearchPoster.doc Description: This project is focused on learning MLA formatting while determining how Greek mythology appears in literature and how it is still prevalent in our culture today. You will be presenting your findings about a Greek god/ goddess, creature or hero on a poster to the class as well as producing an MLA formatted works cited page. Directions: Your job is to research a Greek god/ goddess, creature or hero, create a poster based on the information you find during your research that details the myth surrounding that god or goddess. Quick Project Breakdown: 1. Find at least 2 sources of information about your Greek god/ goddess, creature or hero. a. Online sources i. Encyclopedia Britannica or Compton’s Encyclopedia online encyclopedia ii. Encyclopedia Mythica online encyclopedia iii. Website of your choice: 1. www.mythweb.com 2. www.godchecker.com 3. www.theoi.com 4. www.desy.de/gna/interpedia/greek_myth 5. www.maicar.com/GML/index.html 2. Take notes on the following: i. Name of character ii. Thorough background information about the character. (parents? siblings? married? Where is he/she from? Where does he/she live?) iii. Special talents, skills, or traits (god of moon, strong, beautiful, ...) iv. Weaknesses or areas that cause trouble for the character (love weakness, liar, etc) v. Connect this figure to our discussion of archetype by finding a myth of your chosen figure (name the myth and paraphrase it) that connects to the hero archetype we’ve been discussing. 4. You must also create a poster that will accompany your speech. Poster Guidelines: MUST be: o NEAT! o Colourful (consider the design elements you include) o 100% spelled correctly (see rubric) Required Elements: o Your god/goddess/hero/creature’s name Large enough to be seen across the room o A visual representation of your god/goddess/hero/creature Can be a picture or a symbol If I were you, I’d be including more than one image! o A summarized, concise display of some of the most important points of your research (including the 3 quotes, the connection to archetype, and the other required info presented under “Quick Project Breakdown”) DO NOT include: o Paragraphs (I do not want to see blocks of information. You need to choose the important points!) Short captions are ok!
