Introduce Vocabulary Cards using the SMARTboard and/or Vocabulary Cards 2. Read “Trouble in the Lily Garden” found on T106-T107. (Part of it is on Projectable 7.1) Talk about what conclusions the students can draw after reading the story. 3. Explain that some nouns name special people or animals. *Nouns that name special people or animals are called proper nouns. Proper nouns begin with capital letters. *Model identifying the proper nouns in the example sentence: I see Robert Smith and his dog Bobo in the garden. *Complete other examples on Projectable 7.2 with children. *Students will complete page 92 in the practice book. Tuesday: Writing names for places correctly *Display Projectable 7.6. Explain that some proper nouns name special places. Remind children that all proper nouns begin with capital letters. *Point out that some names of places, such as Elm Street, are made up of two words that each word begins with a capital letter. *Model identifying a proper noun that names a special place. Use the example sentence: Flowers grow all around the Lakeside. *Complete Projectable 7.6 *Students will complete page 97 in the practice book.
