PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:


To assist the PR & Communications Manager in raising the sports profile through a
variety of mediums including TV, web, print and the media.
To play an important role in the development of England Hockey’s new broadband TV
initiative
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Website (www.englandhockey.co.uk & www.greatbritainhockey.co.uk)
i. To assist in keeping the above websites up to date at all times
ii. To write relevant news articles to keep the websites fresh
iii. To drive forward the new EHTV broadband channel
2. International Results Service
i.
ii.
To work with the PR & Communications Manager to provide a results service
to the media when our international teams are in competition. This will involve
writing reports on the games with sometimes limited information with tight
deadlines. This will mean working unsociable hours on occasions.
To update the relevant website with the result and written report within a
specified time of the end of the match.

3. Press Releases, Media Profile & England Hockey Events
i.
To work with the PR & Communications Manager in writing press releases as
and when required and to ensure that a regular schedule of releases is produced
and communicated to the media.
ii. To work with the PR & Communications Manager in placing relevant feature
articles into appropriate publications.
iii. To assist the PR & Communications Manager in providing media facilities and
services at high profile England Hockey Events
4. England Hockey News
i.
ii.
To work with the PR & Communications Manager in planning and producing the
quarterly EH News, currently produced in house. This could mean sourcing
articles and interviews as the Governing Body introduces a personal
membership scheme.
To chase contributors for articles to ensure that the publications are issued as
scheduled.
5. International Player Profiles
i.
To assist in raising the profile of our international players
6. General
i.
To deal with incoming enquiries and help with the administration of the
department.
ii. This position will require the successful candidate to work unsociable hours on
occasions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education, Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge





Degree desirable but not essential. Would suite a media graduate looking
to gain experience within the world of sport.
IT literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) with full understanding of internet
based systems/schemes
Experience of maintaining an overview of targets and objectives whilst
dealing with day to day activities
Have a good knowledge of sport and hockey
Have a good knowledge of websites
