Dear Mr. President,
We are four seventh graders that attend Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School.
We have been researching and studying the recent earthquakes that have been
happening around the world. We have been making maps and collecting data for
a couple of months now and we have all the information that we need, now we
have been requested to type a letter to you explaining the recent earthquakes
that have been happening around the world and to explain the project and
answering the questions that have been a very large part of the project, our data
and research show, and conclude, the answers to the following questions:
Is there any way to determine where earthquakes would happen?
There is no technology available in any part of the world to predict the place,
time, or magnitude of an earthquake. But, earthquakes do occur near the earth’s
fault lines.
Is there any relationship between Earthquakes and volcanoes?
Earthquakes can be a warning of volcanoes. Earthquakes can happen days or
hours before a volcanic event. They both have to do with tectonic plates and they
are both are very destructive. Earthquakes along with volcanoes can cause
death, and loss of homes
What is the cause of Earthquakes?
“The earth is divided into three main layers - a hard outer crust, a soft middle
layer, and a center core. The outer crust is broken into two massive irregular
plates. These plates move very slowly, driven by energy forces deep within the
earth . Earthquakes occur when these plates grind and scrape against each
other.
Respectfully,
Chelsea, Chelsea, Kaitlyn, Jasmine
