DISEASE PROJECT - 7th Grade Health
Mrs. Giovagnoni
Choose a disease/disorder /syndrome and thoroughly answer the following questions. Use the library books,
encyclopedias, and computers (databases) to do your research. Write in full sentences and full paragraphs,
check spelling and grammar, be specific. Number all the questions and restate the question in your answer.
Make sure every person in your group has all the answers – absence will not be an excuse on the day it is due!
Create a share folder on google drive for your group to collaborate in. Choose a different font color for each
person – every person in the group must answer every question.
1. What is the disease? (Introductory paragraph: brief overview, history of the disease, description, …)
2. A. What causes this disease? (virus, bacteria, parasite, heredity, lifestyle …) Provide the name of the
organism if contagious. Explain.
B. How is this disease transmitted or acquired? Is it communicable or non-communicable? Explain.
3. How does it affect your body? Be specific! List and explain all symptoms in detail in a full paragraph.
4. How can it be prevented? Is there a vaccine? (What can be done so you don’t get the disease)
5. How is it treated? Is there a cure? If so, what is it? (explain what you would do if you had the disease:
medication, surgery, lifestyle change, nothing, hospital, …?) (at least one paragraph!)
-
Print your shared document after you have combined everyone’s responses for a final answer. Make a
pamphlet full of your researched information on the disease (typed). Be sure to include the answers to
all the questions in the pamphlet (number the questions) in paragraphs. Decorate the pamphlet. Be sure
the front page of your pamphlet includes your name, period/day, and pictures that apply to your disease.
Be sure to include a work cited page containing a book for every person in your group and any
electronic media used by the group.
6. Create a QR code for your disease. Print it and glue it to your pamphlet.
-
Use the rubric to self-assess your work before handing in your pamphlet.
