Asia Project Rubric
This Asian Project rubric will define the subject matter and methods that you will be
required to cover and to use while completing your Asia Project. Each student will have
his/her own “booth” on presentation day and will be required to present their country to a
peer. Students must work individually.
STEP 1
Choose a country that you do not know much about but have always been somewhat
interested in. Research the following points of interest to display on presentation day.
1. capital city
________
2. natural resources (at least 3)
________
3. major imports and exports (2 each) __________
4. language (s) ________
5. other major cities (at least 2) ________
6. physical features (2 land and 2 water) ___________
Each of these aspects are worth 2 points each (total of 12 points).
They should be displayed using some type of poster board.
STEP 2
Choose another country in Asia to compare your country to. Choose a country that does not
border your main country. Use the following criteria to compare your countries using a side by
side chart form comparison. You should cover the following:
example:
Vietnam
Mongolia
religions
government type
climates type
population
major trading partners (at least 2)
economy is based upon (farming, technology, fishing…)
map of Asia displayed with countries outlined showing location in relation to one another.
GDP per capita (gross domestic product)
This portion will be worth 32 points.
STEP 3
Choose any 2 of the following 3 to display about your country: (Please see me with any difficulties!)
ethnic foods (bring in made or bought)
clothing (make from cloth, borrow, make out of paper, ect.)
color pictures (clear photographs that display important features of your main country)
This portion will be worth 15 points.

STEP 4
Display a physical map of your country showing important land features and water features (you
may draw or print off this map. It should be mounted for display!)
Display a political map of your main country showing its relative location compared to countries
surrounding it (this must be color and may be drawn or printed off. It should be mounted for
display!))
Each of these maps will be worth 10 points.
The effort and care taken to create an appealing, accurate and neat project will be taken into
consideration and be worth 16 points.
The originality of your display will be taken into consideration and be worth 5 points.
Each step will be due on a date to be determined with the final presentation due the week of March
30 - April 3. Step 1 will be due Tuesday, March17! Step 2 will be due Friday, March 20. Step 4 will be
due Tuesday, March 24 (physical) and Thursday, March 26 (political).
