Body Systems Project – Health 6
You will be assigned a topic from the list:
- Digestive system
- Skeletal system
- Circulatory System
- Excretory System
- Respiratory System
- Muscular System
- Nervous System and Brain
- Endocrine System
- Skin
- Eye
- Ear
1. Research your topic using your notes, handouts, and any materials found in the library (books, encyclopedias,
databases).
Day 1- day 4: Create a shared document on google docs and write down the answers to the questions below in
full sentences. You will share all of your answers. Every person in the group should choose a different font
color. Collaborate with the group to combine everyone’s individual answers into a final group answer. Use
the rubric on the back of this paper as a guide. Each answer should be at least 1 full paragraph. Make sure
you include enough organized information about your topic so that someone who doesn’t know anything
about it can learn from your poster. Day 1 you will use books only, days 2-4 you will also include internet
resources.
1. What is the function of this system in your body? Be specific.
2. What body parts does your system include? List all of them and then define them/explain how they work in
that system (together and separately).
3. List at least 5 fun facts that you think are important for others to know about your system. (use new info that
was not already mentioned in questions 1 and 2)
Lastly, write down where you got your information from (which books, encyclopedias, databases, websites, etc.)
– works cited. This is optional and can be used for extra credit.
Day 5: One person in the group should print out the group’s final answers using the library computer assigned to
your group. Another person in the group will use the other library computer assigned to your group to create and
print a word cloud. The 2 or 3 other members of your group will stay at your table and work on the poster. The
printed answers and word cloud will be cut out and glued to the poster paper.
- Make sure you include a title (the name of your system), be sure to number the answers, include pictures that
represent your system (label the pictures), and everyone’s name and per/day on the back of the poster. Your
work cited information is optional and can be done for extra credit. It should be put on the back of the poster.
2. Make sure your project is neat, all the information is included, and it is colorful. Check your spelling and
grammar! Make sure every person in your group has all the answers to each question. Absences will not be an
excuse for missing or late work!! A separate individual grade will be given to you for your contribution to the
group. If you are not in class one day you are still expected to contribute work since google docs can be
accessed from any computer anywhere.

*Although this is a group project, each individual is responsible to contribute and be able to show their own
written answers to the questions in their chosen font color. Each individual will receive their own grade, if they
did not contribute to the group project.

Learning Objective: Students will be able to find the answers to the questions and fun facts about their assigned
body system after completing library research both independently and in groups using books and online
resources available in the library, put together a poster, a work cited page, and create a word cloud for their
topic.
Aim: How can you answer the questions about your body system by conducting research using the resources
available in the library in order to compile it into an informative poster including a word cloud?
Do Now: Create a shared document for your group, select a font color to use for your answers, conduct your
research, write down the answers to the questions in your shared document, and on the last day create a poster
and word cloud with your research answers.
