Describe each of the diagrams below:
Answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper:
1.
Discuss the events that are taking place in the cardiac cycle during left ventricular systole. Be sure the include the
following in your description:
a. Are the other heart chambers in systole or diastole?
b. Are the other heart chambers filling with or emptying blood?
c. If they are filling, state where the blood is coming from. If they are emptying, state where the blood is
going.
d. Which valves are open and which are closed?
e. Is the coronary system (arteries and veins) filling with or emptying blood?
2.
Identify the five major parts of the intrinsic conduction system of the heart in their normal order, beginning with the
pacemaker. Include a discussion of the location and function of each part.
